Star Wars exists to me, now, in the realms of some of the books, my imagination, my Action figures and my minatures, and my D20 rulebook (which, incidently, I am thinking of ways to modify for 4 edition D&D. It would work soooo much better). And, of course, my DVD box set. I want them to make a serious film and/or series again, one not aimed at my little brother and below.
As of the Clone wars, pretty good, though my main gripe is that the droids have full personalities, sentience, and act like saturday morning cartoon henchmen. which is what I guess they are, but they are supposed to be mindless drones who kill people. they made this mistake way back in episode 1, trying to make it amusing for children. And it is funny, when you are like, 8, but it takes away any real sense of threat. Instead of faceless death machines, inspiring terror into those that face them (witch is why they look like a Nemodians skeleton) they are fools to be outwitted and outmanoeuvered, annoying in there stupidity. Even that last thread of respect we had for supers died in Episode 3, when artoo sets them alight, and they slip in a comical fashion. Gorram, that annoys me so much. How can we take it seriously that these things are a threat to galactic peace. I mean c'mon. Also, how does Anakin get a padawan, when he is one. Namely one that is barely over the age requirements, to take with him on missions key to the war effort, where she will see men die in horrible, varied ways. Beacuse that won't be damaging. And some things made me run for the nearest toilet, so i could throw up into them, like JarJar becoming a Jedi. Nonononononnononnonono, please no! Arrrrghhh!
Other than that, a harmless cartoony romp. And the animation does work, in Starwars' slightly exagerrated style. Yet I think i shall return to the Yuuzahn Vong. Ahh, no there's a sense of threat I can believe...
