I'm not completely sure why Midna's grunts sound sexual ... sure, when you break into a dash, that little "Oh!" looks faintly suspect. I liked Midna's speech, and by and large she shut her mouth except at actually important moments. Navi, on the other hand, burbles at you whenever you're doing a little side-quest and NOT on the main quest. She is never helpful in any temple of difficulty, and when you're stuck that becomes extremely irritating
You should quote next time, it's a miracle I even found your reply =p

Anyway, that's exactly the sound I was talking about. I was afraid of dashing with my mom or brother around because of that.

And, that may be the reason why I never thought Navi was annoying... The only temple I found difficult was the Water Temple.
I agree with Midna's sexy noises - hell, I found her entire personality pretty damn attractive, lol. Probably one of the more interesting game personalities I've played with, considering the level of her dialogue. No way is she particularly annoying - she doesn't deserve to be on that list. Not compared to Navi... (oh yeah, and Water Temple was a ***** :( )

I find any character that gives large amounts of redundant, repetitive or obvious advice annoying, like Prophet in Crysis 'there's two tanks out there, Nomad - take them out so we can move the hostage!' ... 'hurry up Nomad, kill the tanks so we can move the hostage!' *Boom* 'I'm still seeing one more tank out there! Take it out so we can move the hostage!' FUCK OFF! Oh, and those escort characters who persist in bugging you to keep moving and all that jazz. Never any good, though Alex in HL2 had some good, unintrusive lines for this. Go Valve.

*slaps forehead; it's b/c of people like you that they created that 'interesting' Midna game on the internet =P

But that point aside, I second your Prophet nomination. I remember the part when everything ices over. "C'mon Nomad. I'm freezing my butt off here. Quick Nomad! Kill these fifty enemies while also keeping my butt warm! Nomad what are you doing, I'm co..."; I'M FREAKING TRYING TO KEEP US ALIVE GOSHDARNMIT

Tails (Sonic): Fuck you. Tails is awesome.
I believe you only say that because you never played Sonic 2. Anyone who has wanted to tie his tails together, hang him from a tree and play pinata with him.

Michael_McCloud said:
Midna (Zelda: TP): Hey, Midna was cool. Her snarky attitude and sly chuckle outdo "HEY! LISTEN!" any day.
You have got to be kidding me. The sexually suggestive noises, the annoying snarkiness, and the constant fingernail-on-chalkboard noises the Wiimote speaker made every time you came withing 150 yards of an object she could interact with weather you needed to interact with it or not... But what really pissed me off about her was the fact that she was supposed to be a support character in the same way Navi was and was suddenly an integral part of the storyline. She got shoehorned in there just to give players an excuse not to hate her. It only made me hate her more.

I heard someone allude to the fact that she grew on them. I liken this statement to finding a poison oak bush growing out of your ass and not having it looked at because it grew on you..

Michael_McCloud said:
Waluigi (Mario games): I don't get the hate towards him. Yeah, he's a Wario ripoff, but he's not too terribly annoying.
I've been a Nintendo fanboy since the early 80s. There. I admitted it. I have never really understood why there has to be a continuously growing contingent of Mario characters aside from the fact that the Mushroom Kingdom seems to be perpetually in need of of drivers for go-karts and participants for sporting events. So when they dropped Waluigi on us and expected us to accept him like he's always been there, I sort of took umbrage to that. It's like getting home from a hard day's work and sitting down to dinner with your family and noticing that Hitler is sitting right across from you and you're the only one that seems to notice.

Michael_McCloud said:
Moira Brown ( Fallout 3): What? Her accent may be odd, and she may be half-crazy, but Moira is one of my favorite characters for exactly those reasons. You want an annoying Fallout character, try Butch. If I here about those damn Tunnel Snakes one more time...
You know, as annoying as I find her, I'm close to thinking that Three Dog is about to overtake her. It's supposed to be a radio station, yet he seems to have a repertoire of all of about 10 songs that he just endlessly repeats. That and the fact that he has the blatant Wolfman Jack ripoff thing going on, and there is just something about the gravelly sound of his voice that I found about as soothing as lemon juice on a paper cut. It's not like that's just his DJ voice, either. He actually talks like that when you go to see him.

As I've been playing it through in the past couple of days, I've been listening to GNR alot because I'm hopelessly narcissistic and I want to hear what he's saying about me... The music isn't horrible, and if you stop to think about it some of it is hilariously subversive ('I don't want to set the world on fire' was an inspired choice), but there's just not enough of it.

Navi:man, i still play that game, i actually like that character, besides the fact that her voice is a little high pitched

The Dog: not old enough to even know what that game was...

Tails:hated that prick, but he never got in the way

Ashley:this is the character i voted for, mostly because she's a pain and says the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over...although so does Navi

Midna:I actually like Midna

Slippy:still play this game too, don't care much for slippy, i've always just let them kill him at the start of the mission, hard to do when the mission was to save him though...

Waluigi:rip off, true, but I don't really hate Waluigi

Roman\Brucie:haven't played it yet

Moira Brown:haven't played it yet, either

Er, no. Sonic 2 is actually the reason why I say that (trust me, I've been around since the Genesis). He was truly one of my favorite childhood characters, and the fact that he had a plane back then only added to that. Then again, I tend to have a thing for the underconfident sidekick, seeing as I also prefer Luigi over Mario.

You have got to be kidding me.
No, I'm not.

Or, to put it another way, "Pass the potatoes, Uncle Tusky."

Now, I've never been too much of a Mario fan, tending to stick more with Star Fox and Sonic. But even though I see your point as to how unprecedented of an addition he is, I still don't think he really deserves half the hate he gets. He just seems like a new sonic character, someone you look at, go "Oh, would you look at that," and move on from. Less like Hitler and more like someone you vaguely know but have no emotional attachment towards. Like Isaac Clarke.

Of course there's not a bloody nough of it. It's a post-apocalyptic wasteland, not a record store! You're lucky he's not sitting there chattering on about how terrible raiders are all day. I mean hell, if it takes a journey deep inside a forgotten vault to pick up the last remaining musical instrument, how many turntables and records do you think are left?

As for his voice, I rather like it. It's got a sort of smooth, hipster quality to it. I still maintain that Butch is more annoying.

Why do so many people hate Moira Brown from Fallout 3, I enjoyed that thought character, thought she was funny.

I think all the other characters (that I'm familiar with) are pretty bad though, at the end my vote went towards Brucy from GTA4, that character annoyed the piss out of me.

Personally, I loved Brucie. He reminds me of one of the managers at my workplace. Roman wasn't too annoying, because I found if you always denied his date invites he'd stop calling so often.

The most annoying character in a video game (For me) has to be Otis from Dead Rising.

I never found Navi annoying, maybe that's was because I liked the way fairies looked like in that game so much (The fact that you could only see the light shining made them look mysterious, and I loved the look of little ball of light hovering around Link)

And Ashley didn't get on my nerves that much. I actually liked the few parts in RE4 where you had to keep her safe while she was turning a crank or pushing some button.

I voted for Slippy, mostly because of his horrible voice. He was especially annoying in that Starfox game that took place in Dinosaur planet. And now that I think about it, the little dino sidekick in that game was one of the most annoying creatures ever, that I hated, even though Triceratops was one of my favourite dinosaurs when I was a kid.

I can't pick. My dislike of characters lasts as much as the game itself and most of the time, they're redeemed by the end of it anyway. During MGS2, I hated Emma, but I felt sorry for her by the end. Same with Eva, when I had to carry her in MGS3. In GTAIV, Brucie really got on my nerves, as did Dwayne. I spared the loser, but he was so.damn.needy.

Currently, it's Ashley. As if it's not enough that I have to protect her, her 12-year-old schoolgirl voice hits on my nerves.

Not to fantastic with the names of the left 4 dead survivors yet (I get them mixed up, not so much zoey though), but I'm pretty sure the one I hate is Bill. Honestly was programmed to be retarded.

Nice poll :)

I'm not too surprised that Navi got the most annoying, many people do dislike her and the old 'hey' 'listen' and perhaps the most criminal of all - those long, unavoidable lessons about Z Targeting. Honestly, the main reason I remember her for are those dialogues!

I was tempted to vote for Ashley; in a panicky gun battle where everything is crashing down for you the last thing you want is one of the horde to pick her up kicking and screaming and add that to your worries. Slippy also came close due to his voice - man or woman? That really stumped me!

The vote goes to Midna. In the winter of 2006 there was nothing more annoying than hearing this mad, giggly laugh coming out of the Wii remote - add to that the poor sound quality - every time you had to do a jump as Wolf Link. Thats not forgetting the little bit of music that plays every time you summon her for something. Or the way she 'hiccupped' or whatever every time you dashed as the wolf. Perhaps the most annoying of all, she stole the show from Link. Tatl all over again!

Emma Everich. The combination of deeply unsettling underage incest undertones, actual incest, and a protect mission in a fucking stealth game.....
I hated Emma so much. I was overjoyed when vamp stabbed her.
and the game has the fucking audacity to give you a game over screen if you shoot her yourself! she's only gonna die after the 3 hour cutscene, I say cut out the middleman! vamp gets all the fun in that game.

piloting a harrier ?
walking on water ?
surviving a headshot ?
killing emma ?
Hideo should have let us play as him instead.

Ok, I admit, Navi is pretty annoying with her "Listen!" "Hey! Listen!", but one can say that Moira Brown is a little more annoying than that. She makes you do all this shit for her, and when you're done, the reward usually isn't as much as you thought it would be. Plus! The way she talks, the way she looks, don't you just want to strangle her?! Blow up Megaton ftw.

Tingle
Tatl, who is like Navi if she were also a royal *****.
The Sackboy who's always being played by your friend who cna't figure out what he's doing and always uses up your lives....least you get to pimp-slap him.

Yes. I completely agree. Especially Tingle. I fucking hate Tingle. Also, better yet, The sackboy you're playing online with that dosen't know how to do anything and you need to type out to them what to do, and eventually just end up typing out curses that don't exist.
