Well I wouldn't call Iraq large scale warfare anymore... the cost is more related to the massively expensive equipment the US forces use, as well as the relatively high pay our soldiers get. I mean a missle that costs over 1 million dollars, since when has destruction ever needed to cost so much? as well as all the revamping the US military is doing, changing its vehicle fleet, R&D up the ass... that is why modern war is expensive. But in terms of the next war it is hard to say, considering the commonality of bushfire wars that constantly spring up around the world, especially in Africa. But in terms of a Fairly large war, my bet would be Iran versus Isreal, & the US considering our ties to Isreal. That is assuming McCain wins the election. But even if Obama wins and Iran and Isreal start fighting then the US will still likely be very involved.EnzoHonda said:

It will start of a proxy territory struggle, it wil be a confusing war, it will be a war that revolutionizes modern military tactics, it will be a war in which development has outstripped strategic advance and will result in extremely high casualty rates. I don't think it will be the Russians any time soon with another sattilite state, as NATO and the US have been going apeshit since the invasion of gorgia's 2 provinces. And there's a huge movement to get the rest of the satilite states on the NATO action plan to help them become full memebers. Way NATO alliance works is that if 1 country gets attacked a chain reaction goes off which is completly seperate from political leadership. And at that moment every NATO ally officially declares war.
One that I can see is that after the US pretty much pulls out of Iraq, except for their 1 base which will remain for god knows how long. Is that Turkey will continue to attempted to bomb the kurdish regions of northern Iraq. Iraqi government sees this as a threat and challenge. Also sees it as a way of uniting its people against a common enemy (germany 1939?) They almost went to war once already within the past year
