Poll: The Old VII

While I understand the popularity of FF7 made all these sequels possible, I don't agree with the excessive number of them. Advent Children was all I needed from FF7, a good CG movie with a direct-continuation plot. What I'd personally like to see from Square-Enix is a current gen (360/PS3) remake of FF6. Personally still my favorite of the FF's and I'm sure it'd sell with an updated gfx revamp (or at least I'd buy it!)

YES! I've been saying this for YEARS! Ever since Advent Children came out and was such a huge disappointment, I have been ranting about it and have even sent a letter to Square-Enix (which, of course, was ignored, but it made me feel better to write it). AC was well-built crap. DoC was a mostly functional game ruined by its FFVII tie-in. If it had been made about some random dude in some random place, would have just been forgettable. As it stands, its unforgettably bad. And then Crisis Core happened. That's right. Not "was released" or "was developed" but HAPPENED. One cannot refer to anything that terrible a anything but a natural disaster. And I almost forgot Last Order, which, like AC, was well animated but was wholly awful because of what it did to some of the most important scenes of FFVII

God, Nomura, stop raping the franchise!

I agree completely with your post, except for that bit about Last Order. I thought that that was the only decent spinoff "item" that came from the original game. While I didn't hate crisis core, I still haven't been bothered to finish it.

FF7 was good, but its still overrated, I think a remake of the older ones or better yet, a completely new title would be far better than milking the Sephiroth goat.

What I think in a nutshell.
Yes, it was a good game but FF X was better then it and my personal favourite (I've only played XII to X-2) and that is going to be definitely replaced by XIII. But I babble a lot because I just don't want to type 'This'.

OT: It doesn't annoy me as I haven't seen or played any of the 'spin-offs'.

I loved FFVII to death (#1 on my Games Elite list), and I liked most of its spinoffs. I love the story in the games, which is what keeps me buying them.

FF tactics with cloud.
Those in my opinion are the only games with FF7 characters worth playing.(plus tactics had Balthier, he only videogame character I would be openly gay for.....)

I loved FFVII, and the weird spin off things they have been doing aren't half bad either. I have only played a few of them, and seen the movie, but they were alright.

Plus, bringing back familiar characters isn't rape, it's good marketing. I loved seeing Cloud in Kingdom Hearts. It made that game for me.

They look like they are done (thank god FF7 is the weak point of the series in my opinion) save for teasing us with a FFVII remake that is completely unnecessary.

What needs to be made is a prequel to FFX or FFT I want to play through Jechts story and the fifty years war!

Know what they should have done? Just remade the damn game. Fill in the script, toss in a new scene or two so some things make some more sense. Add some more dialog and correct the grammatical errors. Heck, while we are at it, lets improve those graphics so it can be....whatever the heck this game has become.

However, that might have possibly made the company less money, so that idea is pretty well shot down, stomped on, blown up, crushed with a plate, and stabbed through.

I think they've milked it for all it's worth, spin-off wise.

Okay before i begin id like to say the FF VII is my second fave.
Does any one else out there think square are wringing too much drops out of an already dry sponge
I mean there's ff7, advent children, dirge of cerburus , before crisis, crisis core and not to mention a whole list of games where they pop VII's characters into for novelty. am i the only ff vii fan that's annoyed at this?

Yes I agree they've done enough to tie up all back sotry and etc. There is only one for FFVII game that needs to made and that is FF7 remake for ps3.

Not even a remake, the original has a charm that a remake wouldn't be able to capture, the original graphics and music are part of what makes that game great, it would lose a piece of it's soul in a remake.

If it's not broken then why fix it? The success of FF7 is working for Squeenix's favor and is making them monies so of course more stuff to it gonna be available for consumers to buy that's standard business practice.

To a Mr. 8-bit Jack of course your going to be ignored little complaints by you wont stop a massive gaming company from making what's been their success.

There is no such thing as "too much" if people enjoy the spin offs.

If you don't, fine but no reason to get upset about it.

I know and it is because of this Clouod has been turned into an emo. Not that I have anything particular against meo it just doesn't suit Cloud as Vincent is FF7's emo. Also because of this many general FF don't like the game because of it feeling it gets undeserved attention. It is also the biggest target for JRPG haters on this forum and others. This is what devs do to their own game.....

Loved FFVII, and loved Crisis Core. Never played any of the other spinoffs, and don't really have any desire to. Zack's story (along with his connection to Cloud, which always confused me) was one of the major plotholes in FFVII, and they tied it up nicely.

Let em do what they want, if I've got a chicken carcass I'll damn well pick off any scraps of chicken left! That's not to say they were all fantastic, it was like Nomura put forth VII and everyone was like "What a great little thing you have there!" and then he said "Wait until you meet my other children!". Then as they entered the room "Sound of Music" style we all slowly nodded, but got bored.

Personally I want VII to be dropped, maybe a complete graphical overhall and nothing more.
