Poll: The show the escapist couldn't survive without

ZP is the most popular and really the reason myself and a lot of other people came to this site. But it's all the shows that keeps everyone coming back here day after day. Back a few months ago when there was nothing worth watching on Thursdays I wouldn't come on Thursdays. Now I have a show to watch.

The Escapist is solid with their planning, by having a high quality show every day of the week (except weekends, really guys I need SOMETHING on Sundays, even some news i get soooo bored...) Every week I tune into, LRR, Big Picture, ZP/ENN, EC, EttM, and honestly I check most of the other ones out every week (may skip an Unskippable, daily drop or something else).

Would this website shrivel up and die if any of those left? No. Would there be a loss in traffic? probably. Would they survive? Definatly.

As it has been stated in numerous post, before this one, it's quite clear to me that the loss of ZP would cause a, enormous, downfall in traffic.

IMO, I laugh equally hard and loud at LRR as ZP, and that's what dragged me here. Laughter.

It should be pointed out that there is always a rotation and new series are made.
For example;
Apocalypse Lane
There will be Brawl
And so on...

Do this site is (rightly) innovating itself all the time to release new content but not too much new content.

Anyway, celebrations aside, it's true. The articles are good, but there are many more people that come here for mostly just the videos. I, like many other people, came here for Zero Punctuation. I stayed for Zero Punctuation. I joined for?well?I joined to make a thread that was, in hindsight, a really bad idea. But still, Zero Punctuation remains one of the cornerstone shows on this site. As such, if it stopped, the site would probably lose a lot of visitors. Then the site would probably lose a lot of money (this is only a projection). So yeah, Zero Punctuation.

If ZP left I wouldn't come here regularly, but if extra credits and Top 5 left in addition, I would never come back.

Put it this way. ZP brought a lot of people to this site (including me), and continues to bring a lot of traffic (as far as I am aware). I am unsurprised by the response to this poll.

HOWEVER

I don't think the Escapist would be in any kind of real 'trouble' without Yahtzee. There are so many awesome shows on this site, not to mention the articles video reviews, quizzes, community etc. I think 'trouble' is going a little far. The Escapist is bigger than Zero Punctuation, and although it brings in a lot of new people, I like to think they stay for more than just a weekly dose of caustic British videogame critique.

Zero Punctuation wasn't the reason I knew the Escapist exist (This goes for another infamous show that was here) but losing will affect the site however it won't kill it.

I came for the Zero Punctuation, but stayed for Extra Credits. I find Extra Credits to be the superior show overall, especially with the attention to detail, the consideration of gaming philosophy, and the encouragement of progressive attitude/action by the fanbase and industry.

But, I came because long-winded saucy dick jokes. And you know you did, too.

Ha! I can say I didn't come here for ZP (though I had heard of him). I first heard of the Escapist on a Paste Mag list of the best gaming-related sites. I sort of lurked for a year and a half before joining. But Zero Punctuation is sort of this site's life blood. It may get less like that in the future, as I really think the overall quality has gone up, and I like the review staff here. Extra credits has been fantastic in its early run so far.

I just wish people would stop quoting Yahtzee like he's the resident sage that we all aspire to be. He's funny at times, but how many dick, poop, and tit jokes can you hear before it gets old?

Gonna have to object to this one on basic grounds. I don't think there's any single show The Escapist would tank if it had to axe suddenly. Nearly every facet of this site is a pitch-perfect machine, from the articles, to the web-comics, to the funny vids, to the serious -- and yes, to the mighty ZP. The Escapist is Rolling Stone for the generation that grew up on a diet of pixels and pop culture.

I came for the articles.

I stayed for the community.

The fast-talking brit is just icing on the cake.

By a random chance I was brought here by ZP. One day I was browsing youtube for different songs of guitar hero, when I stumbled on his review. I never LOL'd so hard in my life.

Still there are some Awesome programs here, Apocalypse Lane, There Will Be Brawl, Extra Credits, Escape to the Movies, Doraleous and Associates etc. But ZP brings to the table that unique bile and hate we nerds need to keep on living for another week.

Although I definitely prefer Extra Credits, The Escapist wouldn't have even gotten the fame it did if it wasn't for Zero Punctuation. So the answer is obvious.

ZP is the only reason i come here. Extra Punctuation is pretty good, though some episodes are boring. The rest of the things on the site are horrific to watch, especially that Lisa Foiles thing.
