I like to play a combination between the Warrior and the Wizard. Kind of like the Arcane Warrior in Dragon Age: Origins or Gandalf in the Lord of The Rings.

I'm the Swashbuckling Master Thief type, a good matured helpful guy....who just steals...a lot. Also he shoots ALL THE ARROWS. I'm saying I like using bow and arrows, but daggers and short swords are cool too.

Also archery is a Rogue thing in my book.

Welp, I like making things EXPLODE into pwetty colors, so I basically choose the magic dude/dudette in an RPG.

If all else fails... Welp, hope my character know how to run REALLY fast. *Screams of 'NOT THE FACE' echoing through the topic*

I don't really subscribe to just one of these classes when I play.

At the moment with my Skyrim (don't groan, it's the most current game I'm playing where this applies) character, I'm a Dark Elf (not sure if that lends anything to this) and I always have an axe in one hand and destruction spell in the other. My bow is always close at hand too. I will sometimes stealthily pick off opponent's one at a time, and will sometimes go in hacking with my axe and blasting further away enemies with a spell. In my (character's) spare time I will dabble in alchemy, smithing, enchanting and extortion. I guess I'll lean more towards the 'thief' attributes, but never entirely.

Maybe in a future playthrough I'll try to roleplay a character more specialised to one archetype.

Always been a warrior fan nominally of the sword and board variety (nearly alway end up as a tank in MMOs)
Knight Errant type characters always fun to play, very easy to RP into paladins/divine champions or blackguards later on down the track.

Sometimes play assassin/thief type toons for a change of pace.

Hardly ever play primary magic users.

Have to admit I do like my Rogue classes - I'll always pick that first when I start an RPG. EverQuest, Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls... Mass Effect I went with Infiltrator. I'll generally have multiple playthroughs so I can experience the other classes, but when you get down to it, I just love how Rogue classes play.

Dual-wield is probably my favourite, followed by archery / sniping. It staggered me in DA:O when people grumbled about how Rogues were underpowered compared to Mages, because my DW Warden could burn through everything in seconds. Great fun.

I'm more of a all-round warrior kind of person. I use a bit of magic and stealth, lots of lock picking but mainly a warrior with a sword and shield. In Skyrim, with the introduction of smithing, I rely heavily on creating my own armour and weapons to acquire new equipment. I was similar in Oblivion with armourer

I tend to go for fighter/mage hybrids - Battlemages, Spellswords, Warmages, that kinda thing. Any class that allows me to stomp around in heavy armour with an axe in one hand, a fireball in the other, and a horde of summoned minions at my back.

Support casters? We don't need no steenking support casters!

Almost always a thief/rogue type class because I hate running into locks I can't pass or people I can't talk my way by.

Warrior, because what is best in life is to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

Archer - Straightforward ranged DPS.
Warrior - Straightforward melee DPS.
Thief - Burst damage and utility.

Thieves can also use bows, but it's usually from the shadows just to give that special UMPF burst before your victim closes in. Archers (IMO) just sit in the back and deal consistent damage... as opposed to burst. Archers also wear heavier armor and have a more generous health pool than thieves, but don't have nearly as much utility as a thief (lockpicking, pickpocketing etc.).

I like playing thief characters in rpgs the most. Backstabbing and subterfuge never, *ahem*, lose their edge.

I prefer the mage type, but with a twist... A mage thief combo, no locked door or treasure chest will stand in my way to gain infinite power & all kinds of shiny things...

I major as a thief, however Im giving warrior a go for the first time on skyrim and I gotta say it is fun, smashing smashable things with the smash item gives extra smash power.

Well in computer/tabletop RPG I would generally go with a rogue or a wizard. When I LARP, its all about the warrior, because nothing trumps the physical feedback from smashing things. Until you get backstabbed by a crafty rogue... but that is made up for by when you are face to face with rogue, armed with mace and shield/sword/your bare hands, and they have only a dagger and nowhere to run/hide

I tend to favour the thief style of plays, usually in the form of stealthing around taking everyone's stuff and then after the one assassination I get off using high agility based moves to take on the best fighters and survive (Usually in the form of parries, disarms, disorients, poisons and stuns)

Though the Tank-mage style play always appealed to me (Plate wearing tank that uses magic to deal damage (Usually the Shadowknight/Deathknight archetype))

Whenever possible, I roleplay a financially crippled pugilist. Dressed in rags, flailing fists so powerful I might as well have a warhammer in each hand. I still don't understand why they removed Unarmed for Skyrim. =(

I also like to dabble around with all three archetypes, and I have no favorite.
Unarmed combat is still viable in Skyrim, there are a special set of gloves you can get in the Thieves Guild that are enchanted to help you with unarmed combat. I'd recommend getting those, disenchanting them, leveling up smithing, get Daedric gauntlets, enchant those and then go punch a dragon in the face.
