Both look like really good games with solid gameplay and graphics but im leaning towards Dark Souls at the moment. Rage looks like a good christmas gift

It's amazing how you already know 50% of Rage's content has been removed from the game to be sold as DLC. You must work for Id or Bethesda or else you'd just be talking out of your ass.EverythingIncredible said:Dark Souls.
Dark Souls has no online pass and half the content isn't chopped out for DLC.
Rage is looking for new ways to screw customers over. Especially the ones that don't line Bethesda's pockets.
Between these two, you should be getting Dark Souls on principle.
Not to mention: Pre-ordered Dark Souls gives you an automatic upgrade to Collectors Edition with lots of physical swag. THAT is how you do pre-order goodies.viranimus said:Dark souls here too.
Rage seems more of the type to wait for it to hit bargain bins. For one I still resent "cutting" parts of the single player game for used players. (yes I understand how that actually works out, its just easier to say it that way and its close enough to be accurate.)
Secondly, this is supposition on my part but I honestly get the feeling that dark souls is going to have much more content to it.
Thirdly... With RAGE being a new IP, it might make sense to wait to see if it generates a sequel before one comits to a day one purchase. Sort of hard to day 1 a purchase for a game that doesnt allow gamers to have any sort of point of reference if it is good, like say.. a prior installment, or a demo. So yeah theres that.
Lastly... its Bethesda and there is a greater probability of there being a GOTY or Greatest hits, or some sort of rerelease of the game that will include any and all DLC content that might be available. Seems much more likely that the release you play of Dark Souls on day 1 will be the same version available this time next year. So regardless of if you like DLC or not, it makes more sense to A: Reward a company who releases all of its content up front and B: Get a game with DLC add ons at a lower price than buying the game new then having to pay a DLC charge every couple of months. Dont get me wrong. I am actually in favor of DLC. However simple economics show that it makes more sense to hold off on a game that has a probability of having DLC until all that DLC is released and you can typically get it bundled, or the base game will invariably be cheaper.
tl;dr Darksouls. Seriously. Dark Souls. I would choose it over RAGE. Hell personally I would choose it over Skyrim too.I would choose Dark souls over a combo pack of Skyrim + Rage that were priced equal to each other if that tells you anything.
