So recently I've heard a lot of my friends talk about going over to their friends house and beating a full, single player video game in one go. My friends speak of spending hours at said persons house, maybe even days playing video games both single and multiplayer.

My question is, what the frak? Where does one get one of these generous, giving creatures who supply food and social interaction. What does one do while at the house of this person, do they really just play games? or do they talk? what does the hosting friend do while your hogging his tv?

I want one -.-

*EDIT* Please post in the comments as well ^^ its interesting to read :)

I used to be that person actually during my teen years. But... those days are gone.

I play games with my friends yeah, but we never really sit down and go "okay lets tackle this game". Although I DID go over to a friend's place and we played through all of ODST on the hardest difficulty. So I guess I do, but it's very random timing.

OMG. *checks under bed* Nope, not there. I have friends who'll lend me their consoles/games if I want 'em, and I've heard of LAN's where about 10 people go to someone's house for the weekend, hook up a bunch of ?X-box's? and play Halo for a couple of days. But that's about it... :S Can you borrow an established uber-friend from a normal friend??

yeah, all my friends are like this, we kinda reciprocate, but normally what we do is I'll bring over my laptop, my friend'll have his pc, and one of our other friends can hog the tv, and we just swap off every now and then.

I used to do it. It's a combinatation of playing the game, talking and ignoring the need for food. Stopped doing it when we got to college, but he's in our RP group, which happens weekly and goes on for a few hours.

I guess I used to, but that was literally when the PS2 first came out. Bumming off people makes me feel guilty.

Between age 10-14, I was both one of "Those friends" and had several of "those friends". We usuall just farted about, trying to find someones house to go to. We usually played halo at my house, Mario party at anothers (because mario party is awesome) and BF at anothers.

For the last few years though, I've kind of shut myself off from them, what with my "Depression getting worse", but I've recently (this month) been hanging out with them again at another friends house. We usually play poker, watch Hockey, and insult anyone who is unfortunate enough to have a sister.

Not anymore. I did when I was like 11-14, they were fun times indeed. I don't do that sort of shit with friends anymore. Not when there are Friday nights and there are pubs to visit.
Your lucky. Mine just want to take me to loud, expensive nightclubs.

OT: All my friends live a good 30km's away so I don't have them any more. I actually used to be one of them when a few years back.

Actually, one of the best ways to have fun gaming local (splitscreen or system link) is to blast through the campaign on the easiest difficulty, messing around along the way. For example, a friend and I have beaten halo 3 using only melee in under 2 hours.

I am one of those friends, well, at least my brother and I are. Our friends come over all of the time to play games. Depending on the mood, someone will play. I beat the campaign of Modern Warfare 2 in one night, and we talked and things like that. It was a blast!

We'll also have nights where we play Rock Band 2, Halo 3, or some other multiplayer all night long. That's fun as well.

Yeah, I always used to go to my friend's house on the weekends and we'd stay on games all night, until yesterday where he pissed me off to much I swung for him.

Let's just say I don't think I'll be doing it again...

Yeah, my friend does this quite often. We go to his house, play some games, then it turns into an over night thing so we get some food too. Last time we popped to the guest's houses to pick up some stuff in the car of a man that has no respect for speed limits. I picked up my tv and my original xbox. The host actually fell asleep, but me and the other guest stayed up all night playing TimeSplitters multiplayer and taking turns completely owning most of the challenges and arcade leagues. In the morning we played Left 4 Dead 2, all three of us and because I had no sleep I was constantly switching realities while playing, but I still never died :)

Ah man I hate that sort of thing. I really don't see the appeal of a massive sweaty loud disgusting annoying night club when you can sit in a nice pub with a pint and friends. Got to love those English pubs!
Man, I wish I had friends who found that appealing. One thing that a pub also has above a nightclub is that at some you can get a decent feed.

I'm totally that guy. I buy lots of obscure but good games that my friends are unsure about/never heard of. I make sure they play them all. I always have lots of food, and I don't mind letting them hang around as long as they want.

During the game I usually play some music, surf the web, look up faqs/achievement guides as needed. Sometimes co-op if possible.

My next door neighbour and some kids in his grade and I all became friends quickly during their last few years of high school (they're all 2 years older than me). Before they graduated and moved away and got real jobs and stuff, we all used to go to my neighbour's house and system link xbox's for Halo 2 and Star Wars Battlefront (1) on multiplayer. When someone didn't want to play anymore, they played Magic (the Gathering) with someone else and the 2 people remaining did co-op on whatever xbox game, or we all just played drinking games. When we got hungry, we would all walk/bus down together, usually drunk, to a local pizza place. During nice days, we would go swimming in the complex pool, or play road hockey.

Best times of my life... I would give anything to go back to those worry and responsibility free days.

On of my best friends is like that. Though i'm like that myself too. He's got a PS3 and i've got the Wii so whenever there's a new release we find interesting we go over to each others house and we swap playing. No one's hogging the TV here, i'd cramp if i had to sit and watch all day.

I have a friend who is similar to what you described, although it's not that we only see each other when we are playing games at each other's house. We are fairly good friends at school and we go over to each other's houses when one of us gets a game that the other wants to play.

I guess if you've got a solid group of friends, they're all willing to give food and sleeping space to each other...

Nothing wrong with that, though, I hope for their sake that they wash.
