Is time travel possible? I mean what about alternate time lines and going back in time and killing your grandfather and stuff like that? It's so confusing I don't think it's even possible... I don't think it would be worth the risks involved. The world we live in could very well be influenced by visitors from the future.
Anyway you spin it I think it would take more than a sonic screw driver, chameleon circuits, and a flux capacitor.

Not possible, because of both the Butterfly Effect and the major paradox's that would result no matter what you did, or didn't do, in the past.

Theoretically yes, actually no.

But then alot of theings are theoretically possible, we just don't have the technological means to make them possible.

Yes it's possible and no changes yo make to the past would affect your future it would create an alternate universe and your reality would remain untouched.

Anyway physics says travel forward is theoretically possible but travel backwards is not.

It did work, don't you remember?oh wait you were killed on that trip by...nevermind.

In all seriousness,It can't really work.plus there is no point, tragedys in the past or not,for a time machine to be succesefully built it would require to be built in a technologically advanced utopia, rendering changing the past events leading up to said utopia unnecessary.

impossible and pointless, that is my take

Probably not, but if someone comes out with a breakthrough then feel free to PM me. It'd help a bunch.

In regards to killing your grandfather, there's a whole thing about that. Goes something like this...

"If I go back in time and kill my grandfather as a young man, he will never marry, never have my parent, which means I will never be born. However, if I am never born, I will not be able to go back in time to kill him, so he will not die, so he will marry and have my parent, so I WILL be born. So I can go back and kill him, but then I will never be born, and so on."

Isaac Asimov (he explained it in an episode of the PBS science series Cosmos)

EDIT: I believe time travel is theorectically possible, but extrodinarily dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Unless you're the Doctor, in which case go nuts.

Of course Time-Travel is possible; I'm travelling through time right now...

Time travel is a reality. I go forward in time all the time.

Look, I just did it again.

Please, please use the search feature. And, we don't know if it is possible, but it is not probable.

Just because it makes no sense and may result in paradoxes doesn't mean it's impossible.

Not in a way that would change the past, otherwise someone would have done something to tell us by now.

That, or time travel is only possible back to the point where time travel was made possible, as in there would be a device static in time which could be used to travel back to.

But I don't think it's possible.

I don't think its possible to time travel to a specific time but it may be possible for it to happen in a freak accident even so I'm skeptical. Unless someone were to make a flux capaciter.

It's been proven theoretically possible, but the circumstances prove it to be highly improbable, also you can only travel to the future.

Yeah, basically you can only travel or send messages to other times when there is a time machine. So only the future. I think you and I are thinking of the same experiment.

it's not impossible; the theory of relativity even states that a certain form of time travel occurs when traveling at the speed of light. time travel as it is casually know, however, is still technologically distant and implausible (but not impossible - we just don't know enough about the nature of our universe to know how to manipulate time).

Well there is the theory about taking a wormhole to near-light speeds which would theoretically allow access to the past (even if only after the time machine has been built).

I've always gone with the alternate timeline theory where the act of changing the past leaves the time traveller stranded in the new reality they have created. It doesn't have any of those mysterious vanishing people and causality flows perfectly as long as you are looking at it from at least a five-dimensional perspective.

Time travel is impossible. There's no way to bend time forwards or backwards.

It's kind of like teleportation: it sounds nice but it will never work and never happen. Hell, for teleportation to work you'd have to be able to create a machine that could break something down past its atoms, send them somewhere else and put them all back together. People are made up of trillions of atoms, and trying to remove & put back the most simple of items/organisms that there is next to impossible. No complex organism can be teleported in any such matter.

Physics says traveling backwards through time it completely possible.
One of the main theories of antimatter is that it is matter moving backwards through time.
