I doubt I'm a minority when I say Bioware and Valve. Also adding Blizzard and Bethesda, and Obsidian is very close to being one. All of the employees from Obsidian were in great companies (Interplay and Black Isle), and NWN2 and KotOR 2 were both good, so as long as Alpha Protocol and Fallout: New Vegas are good, they'll be one as well. (And I highly doubt they can screw up Fallout, they technically have more history with the series than Bethesda.)

100% trust to Gearbox, if I ever had a problem on Borderlands, they will patch it. I would say Valve but they've shunned PS3 and that's all I have. I know the majority wags their fingers at me for that but hey, I have a good reason.

I'm more likely to trust or distrust a game because of the publisher than I am the actual developer, either way I tend play games before I buy them (direct sequels being the only real exception).

As the most obvious choice on the planet: Valve. They have yet to make a game that can be classed as 'sub-par' to their previous ones, and have yet to let their fans down.

As another one: I trust Blizzard quite a lot. They're probably my second-favourite developer (behind Valve) for their work on the Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft series.

Valve and Harmonix. I used to hold Blizzard in the same regard, but World of Warcraft and the Activision merger have knocked them down a few levels.

Yeah, that makes sense. It's very true that with big developers, most of their games are shit. It happens with Nntendo, EA, and other developers. Whether or not someone is able to look past the shit and trust them on big-name titles is up to that person.

The Wii, as you said, pushes the envelope on what games can do, and I would define that as being cutting-edge (especially because both Microsoft and Sony are rushing to use the same technology), but that's really just your opinion. As long as you recognize that they were definitely cutting edge between 1985 and 1998, I'm fine.

Oh, of course they were between 85 and 98! And as far as the Wii, I understand what you're saying. I think we actually believe the Wii has done the same things for the industry, we just use two different words to define the same thing.

And for the record, Nintendo will forever be my favorite game company. They were my first game love, and something like that never goes away - especially when they continue to push out good games; even if it is only once in a blue moon (in my opinion)
I agree with about everything you said there. We're probably just looking at the term "cutting-edge" in a different way.

Valve.
They gave me Steam, Half Life Series, Portal, Counter Strike, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2, etc.

I hate Nintendo ever since making the Wii
