ARRGGH! The OP isn't ever going to fix that typo are they?

It's going to sit there. Festering. Taunting me. Every time I open the off-topic forum it will be there.

Just waiting.

Wow, I didn't realize how much hate Twilight films get until now. Haven't touched the book but I saw the first 2 films last year and they weren't bad. There is worse stuff out there worthy of all the hate it's getting. It's dumb and mildly enjoyable entertainment but no dumber than highly praised movies like say Inglorious Bastards or Forrest Gump.

Never read any of the books. Started watching the first movie after it came out having no idea about it. Was pretty bored thirty minutes in. Turned it off when I saw a dude sparkling in sunlight instead of burning. I don't hate it, I simply don't like it. I'm incredibly indifferent to the series.

Not an uncommon problem. I think Yahtzee said much the same about certain types of people who make webcomics, some time back. Something something "because they've heard of female empowerment but don't know what it is".
what webcomics? like ones that involves the women running around in skimpy outfits?

I think it was the one were the "this loser is you" male characters get humorously bludgeoned by the female characters, cause the female characters are all tough and empowered and stuff.

I saw the first movie because a friend pestered me and another friend to go despite the fact that we told him more than once we would likely be mocking it the whole way through because neither of us like that sort of thing. We went and unsurprisingly we mocked it the whole way though much to his annoyance since he really likes it for some reason. I'm not fond of romance heavy plots in the first place and certainly not of the useless ***** get gets 2 or more powerful, tormented, usually overly controlling men obsessed with her to the point of stalking (which is of course so romantic) and flips between them variety. It's presence will make me drop a book even if it has other things that are alright. At least Twilight is so bad you can laugh at like if it was a parody.

*sigh* why must so many modern day fantasy stories be like this?

Yeah, never read them, never watched more than bits and pieces. A few years ago I was a bit caught up in the negativity toward Twilight. I just get frustrated when an obviously bad piece of fiction gets really popular and makes tons of money. If I can write better stories than Twilight, and I know I can, than why aren't I a millionaire?
"I never read them or watched the movies."
"They are obviously bad."
"I can write better stories."

I'm confused. If you didn't read the books, how do you know you can write better? If you didn't watch the films, how do you know they are "obviously bad?"
I don't need to consume the whole product to know it was badly made. The opinions of people I trust have led me to believe that Twilight is poorly written, and has many problems with plot, characterization, and pacing. Maybe it's unfair to condemn it before trying it myself, but when the evidence is so clear that I wouldn't enjoy it one bit, I don't think it's unreasonable of me to decide that it's bad.

It's a bad book.

Two Worlds was a bad game.

Does everyone get into an uproar about Two Worlds everytime it's brought up? No. Because nobody cares about Two World's anymore, not even it's creators.

So why can't we let this festering piece of bullshit slowly phase out of existence? Is it because it spawned an entire genre of equally as bad, if not worse, books about "bland, average girl and supernatural being who is hot" that make some money? Probably.

And I don't see why we can't just ignore the entire genre. Resistance is futile. It will never stop.

Watched the first movie with my mother and sisters since they insisted because I like Vampire/Werewolf stuff. Didn't see any vampires or werewolves. Just a bunch of grumbly people grumbling and creeping on each other. My reaction was something like

Said mother and sisters got free tickets to the midnight release of the sequel and had an extra ticket and I came along because movie snacks are great and I wanted to wear my "And then Buffy staked Edward, The End" T-shirt to see if I got a reaction. Two guys in the line in front of me gave a 10/10 golden reaction, I think they might have been gay. Not that that's why I enjoyed the reaction, it was merely an observation since two guys with no girls were in line together at a midnight launch screening of the 2nd Twilight film.

Also that is NOT how you ride a fucking motorbike and that is not how you teach someone to ride a fucking motorbike! That was the only part of the movie that got a real reaction out of me. Though it may have been that I was frustrated from running out of Coke and still had half a bucket of popcorn left.

Meyer has problems deciding what's romantic and what's abusive or stalkery.
I remember Nostalga chick (on her book show I think) said that mabye writers like Meyer who are religous have this idea as to what women are suposed to be/do and try to match that up with our "modern" ideas of feminism but it just doesn't work

she also said twilgiht isn't as bad as the trash thats out there (namely Tigers Curse)
And then there's 50 Shades of Grey. One of the trashiest, crepeiest, stalkeriest novels ever conceived. The ladies at work swooned over that book for months. It blows my mind that when it's a rich/attractive character doing it borderline rape is romantic. Not a single one seems to know that it was just rewritten Twilight fanfiction.

Do you mean the pony or the vampires?
Of course you mean the vampires :(

Well,I NEVER watched a movie before [and I will never], but it is always welcome to make new movies.
I LOVE the b*tching of Spoony and Nostalgia Critic about these movies.

Oh trust me, "Twihards" existed and still exist. Two of my uni acquaintances were like that. The "They ruined the movies because one side character had a different eye color than in the books!" and "How can you say the series is not the best thing since lukewarm water you HERETIC?!" kind. If you think the hatedom was bad, you should feel lucky that you never truly met the fandom...
Oh, I know. I've read plenty accounts of them in action. I've just never actually met anyone like that, and had to go out of my way to find said accounts (twilightsucks.com and such), and all the fans of the series I have met have been perfectly nice people who just so happened to be Twilight fans. The hatedom, on the others hand, was freaking everywhere.

I'm sensing less an informed opinion and more a knee-jerk reaction. You said you've not read any of it and only seen small portions of the films, not mentioning the "people you trust" until questioned further. You also say that you "don't need to consume the whole product" as if you had actually tried to read the novels, but we know you haven't. This makes it seem like an argument not in good faith.

Given peoples' demonstrated love for both hating on popular things and using untrue language to make a point in forums, especially this one, I'm left leaning towards the safe bet.
All right. You don't have to value my point of view. I just didn't think I needed to explain every aspect of my experience with Twilight in order to offer an opinion on it. I even admitted that I used to hate it just because of knee-jerk responses, but my opinion has been tempered with time and a bit more exposure to it.

I'm simply telling you what I think, and what I think about Twilight doesn't necessarily have to be based on lengthy experience to be a valid opinion. We form views on all kinds of things without having all the information, and we do it knowingly because we can't be bothered to investigate everything that may or may not bug the crap out of us. If my opinion is invalid, then so are most opinions we try to defend every day.

I suggest you have a look at the Nostalgia Critic's editorial video "Is Twilight the Worst Thing Ever?" to get a deeper view of some perspective on it.
Well, no. No, it's not. There's "The Human Centipede", for example. Now THAT is the worst thing ever.

But I did recently I got angry at a disaster movie for taking an artistic liberty with science.
That's pretty much every disaster movie ever. However, if I had to hazard a guess...."The Day After Tomorrow"? That one is really obnoxious with liberty-taking.
It was actually called Lava under New York. The scene that annoyed me was apparently having lava underwater while a boat is above causes the boat to somehow explode. The lava from what was shown wasn't nowhere near the boat and the sea wasn't even boiling. That scene could be a metaphor for my suspension of disbelief after that scene.
Now see, what you did there was had the wrong expectations from the film! :p

I like sharks, but I definitely don't expect any degree of accuracy from such films as: Sand Sharks, Dinoshark, Sharktopus, Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus or Sharks in Venice! :p

You just have to sit back and enjoy the ride!

OT: I didn't mind them... They were on par, as movies go, as Daredevil, The Fast and Furious movies and anything with Jason Statham. I enjoy the watch, but wouldn't go for the reattack.
