In one of the other threads concerning this topic, there were people who said that since Valve is divided into "teams" handling different games, thus implying that the development of L4D2 doesn't affect the development of Episode 3. If it does, then I can't honestly say I truly care about Episode 3. Maybe the fact that I haven't really played HL2 has something to do with that.

But to be honest, none of this really affects me, since Valve doesn't seem to show any PS3-love with L4D2 ;(

i agree with the fact L4d2 looks like valve have chosen to write this while thinking Left 4 dead is really a manual of how to survive the zombie apocolypse and shooting everyyone in sight while screaming zombie, but I dont know what this ep 3 is can someone fill me in?
Half Life 2 (kind of the PC-elitists equivalent to the 360-fanboys Halo) got semi-sequels in the form of episodic content. They were ment to be shorter updates who would be released more frequently and at lesser prices. Valve has managed to miss the part of releasing more frequently, and it has been about a year and a half since Half Life 2: Episode 2 came out, which means the expectations and hype for Episode 3 is through the roof.

I honestly think that they could just as easily say Episode 2 was the end of Half-Life 2 and just start doing Half-Life 3.

Because let's face it, VALVe really didn't get the gist of episodic gaming.

I'll never understand why people are upset at Valve for this for seemingly no logical reason except for "It's not like Valve to release games this quickly."

I'll admit I did want to see some news on Episode 3 but tell me this, do you want Valve to rush this game or do you want them to take as much time as they need to make it as awesome as possible?

So they relased this sequel fairly early, so? I'm assuming a Left 4 dead game is easier to make than Half-Life 2 because it has no story so to speak. Besides, Left 4 Dead is a great game, and Valve is a great developer, why not wait to see what this game is like before declaring that Valve has betrayed it's fan base.

And change your title before I give in to my urge to cuss you out for being so petty as to be mad when Valve is giving us more games to play.
The man speaks the truth.

Not at all, am I regarded as a troll because I don't like half life?

Odd how a troll has survived 900 901 posts isn't it?

Episode 3 is the third and final episode of the Half-Life 2 episodic saga. Since the end of the original Half-Life 2, Valve have been releasing episodes that tell the story of what happens to Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance as they try to deep with remaining Combine, save the world and find out who the fuck the G-man is.

Valve has released 2 episodes so far in almost...what is it now? Just under a decade? Each game is about 2-4 hours in length so you can imagine how miffed a lot of people are. But that how Valve works. It's especially frustrating this time as Half-Life 2: Episode 2 had just about the most epic, horrifying and frustrating cliff hangers I have ever seen in a game.

In order to be back-stabbed there has to be some initial promise.
I dont recall Valve saying Episode 3 would be shown at E3.
therefore this doesn't make much sense.

I don't care very much about it. Valve had the good decency to leave me unimpressed with their previous titles so that I won't feel anticipation for Episode 3. The games are fun, but nothing particularly noteworthy (aside from Portal, which is rather noteworthy).

Valve knows what they're doing, they want to make the game absolutely positively epic before releasing any trailers/news/images.

L4D2 will not be coming out this year, it's a Valve game, it'll get delayed, so don't worry about it.
Exactly! It won't come out till 2012, we'll probably see Episode 3 before it!

Did Valve also sap your sentry?

Predictable jokes aside... yeah, I'm not too happy with the lack of news/announcements about Episode 3, but aren't people used to Valve doing that by now? I mean, I play TF2 on the 360, for fuck's sake. I've already become accustomed to "Valve time".
This is quite possibly the best way to say Just wait.
Valve is steady on making L4D2. That just sucks. They could just release the new content as DLC, and just add the new survivors to the list. They would dole it out when they're done with it. It the work ethic for team fortress, as its quickly becoming a completely different game.

Releasing a sequel in 364 days of the first one seems a bit odd for Valve. I'm speculating that they're going to, as always, delay it. I hope they just put L4D2 out and bring out Episode 3 in a flashy ooh-look-at-me-I'm-actually-almost-finished kind of way.

Question: What stops them working on L4D2 and Episode 3 at the same time? Just because they haven't had an announcement about it, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Methinks there'll be the Tangerine Box coming out within 12 months, containing Left 4 Dead 2, Half-Life 2 Episode 3, and Portal 2 Chelsea 0. Along with another opportunity to gift everything of HL2 you already had.
