It will come when it comes.
And to quote 3D Realms

"It's done, When its done"...

EDIT: I'm a little skeptical wether this may be a change in valve from making epic games to churning out games as soon as possible that are mediocer. (sorry for the bad spelling i've been up straight for 43 hours working.)

Valve releases quality games everytime. The reason they are keeping silent is so hype can't destroy the game (like many games when they can't deliver on promises). It's release will be a glorious day and that is what we'll have to be content with.

Episode 2 didn't really do it for me so I'm not really putting much effort into caring about Episode 3. I do, however, love killing zombies so I hope L4D3 comes out with vehicles then L4D4 with destructible environments and then L4D5 with zombie space fleets.

Valve claimed we would probably see some of Episode 3 LAST YEAR.

We have yet to see anything 6 months after while they work on another project.

It will come out...some day.
You know people used to say the same about DNF.
Yes, but DNF wasn't Valve. Valve have a reputation for serving the fans well and Episode 3 will be released. Why does nobody ever consider the fact that there are different teams working within Valve on different projects, so the announcement of L4D2 has absolutely no impact whatsoever on the release or development of Episode 3? I've lost count of how many times I've said that on this forum since the L4D2 trailer was shown at E3...

Fuck Episode 3, I hate Half life, bring on innumerable L4D sequels!
Troll? Or not ... I cant tell
Not at all, am I regarded as a troll because I don't like half life?

Odd how a troll has survived 900 901 posts isn't it?
No its not because you don't like half life but because you say'd, bring on innumerable l4d sequels... that was a little ... suspicious (don't ask me why), sorry :p.

Even as a self-proclaimed Valve fanboy I'm going to have to admit I'm glad that they didn't announce it. L4D2 looks nice, and I'm fairly excited about it. But honestly I don't want to hear ANYTHING about episode 3 until it is almost here. I mean like REALLY CLOSE. Haha imagine if they could have no leaks whatsoever and announced it like a day before release. But in seriousness, I just hope they don't get anyone excited over screenshots or something and get pressured to put it out when its not ready. Valve makes great games because they take ideas, and playtest them, they fix bugs, and playtest again, they make improvements, and they playtest again. After that they playtest some more! If you listen to the developer's commentaries on the Orange Box every other sentence starts with "Playtesters found that...." or "Initially the playtesters had problems, so we decided to....." Yes, it takes a LOT of time. Maybe enough to the point where it becomes silly to call it "episodic", but they are taking the time to get valuable player input from playtesting. Some of the best aspects and quirks of their games are things they wouldn't have done without playtesting. Having the pipe bombs attract zombies as opposed to just working like a grenade? Playtesting. Having challenge levels in portal? Playtesting (playtesters were finding shortcuts in levels, requiring fewer portals. Valve decided to add challenge levels to reward creative players and to add replayability). It takes forever so they can make the game to the high standards of the gaming public, for the good of the gaming public. Enough said. Good things come to those who wait.

P.S.- I do believe that Ep 3 will come out sometime. Then again, I'm naive enough to think that DNF is going to come out someday.

Look at it this way; they have to first put a whole new zone into production (Arctic), they have to create & test a new vehicle (helicopter), they have to work in fights with Advisors, work in methods of tying in Apeture science (Portal), make it all exiting and interesting, WITH closure to the entirity of the Half-Life 2 era - meaning big finale ending.

Better late then never. In fact, better late and good then early and rushed.

You have "no big deal, I can wait" spread across 3 options. The poll is really 73% over 27% in favor of people that don't care about HL.

Personally, I'm in that majority. I didn't even finish HL because I was tired of trying to figure out which tunnel I'm supposed to find next.

Valve time: 2 months = 1 year
1year = 3 years
Quarter 1 = next december

You get the picture. Don't expect Episode 3 any time soon.

Why is everyone upset with Valve for L4D2? It's not like they stopped work on HL, or even ignored the series for a little bit.

As for Ep. 3, have patience. It will come out.

I am a bit Biased in my Preference, as I've never seen the Appeal of Half Life (Or even know what it's about.)

Howeever, I am more than willing to buy the Next Left 4 Dead.

I am disappointed but I do want them to do a good job. But I do agree, a mention of the progress of Half Life Episode 3 would have been nice.

Christ, will you people quit whining? When it comes it comes! I want to play it too but quit moaning that Valve has betrayed/ backstabed/ raped you. And another thing about the whining with L4D2, perhaps Valve couldn't put all of the new DLC in for free like they wanted, so they decided to just make a new game with all the DLC they were going to include in 1 and add new features. Ever consider something like that?
