I wouldn't consider an extremely vegan person to be all that healthy. Moderation in all things, including moderation itself, as the quote goes. I do know that most meats are such a load of crap and hormones that they ARE very unhealthy, however.
I, for one, am somewhat vegan, in that I stay away from meat but will eat it if I must or if I haven't in a long time. Not in a 'save the animals and give them equal rights' kind of way - as I matter of fact, I hate animals with a vengeance. My family has even owned chickens and I can say with some certainty that their place in the food chain is not on accident. My reasons are much more selfish: a lot of meat is very bad for you.
Also, the FDA has recently braned cloned meats as being safe and, if memory serves me correctly, not being required to be labelled in stores, and you'll have to excuse me if I don't feel like being a test subject for THAT experiment.
