Hi this is a small question because my mom is yelling in my ear about why my grades are so horrible that I have c's and B's and should be getting A's but can't because I play games.

So what do you think do video games affect grades that much or at all?

They can affect your grades if you spend time playing to the point you don't do any work or revision. However, that's as far as it goes. Someone who spends hours on end playing WoW or pwning n00bs at COD4 isn't going to be doing as much work as someone who only plays for like an hour every so often, and so on. I'm living proof of that, and I've been on both sides of that (I'm now at university, FTR). However, a little gaming never hurt anyone :)

It depends on who you are.

If you're not self-pressuring and you don't do work if you feel like you can do it later, video games present a willing distraction for you to use. You'll play those instead of doing work.

If you're good at time rationing, you'll probably do your work and then play later, if you can help it.

Depends on how much discipline you have.

Well i know id sure as hell rather play some videogames than do my homework. And alot of the times i slack off and play games isntead of homework, thus dropping my grades.

But the intresting thing was that my xbox broke in january and my grades all dropped to Fs...Whenmy birthday came around in march i got a PS3 and all my grades raised again...

Intresting huh?

Only when I game instead of doing my homework... I usually am able to complete my schoolwork, though.
I used to have problems focusing in high school, but I didn't game nearly as often then, which means it wasn't due to video games.
Now I just end up losing sleep time because I start my homework late, though this is due to many distractions (only one of which is gaming).

Only a few instances in class where I was randomly called upon, and got the questions right, thanks to gaming. They haven't affected my grades at all really.

I personally am of the mind that if you are the sort who has poor time management, you will find a way to fritter away your time regardless of whether computer games are available to you or not. Yes they are great fun and can be addictive. Then again so can spending hours a day laughing at the antics of other people when they post it to youtube.

I've waisted time gaming instead of getting things done but that is more because of me than the game.

Well im sure they would affect your grades if you play games rather then do homework or study for 10 or 15 hours a day. Other then that it doesn't matter really. I play games all the time and my grades fluctuate almost curiously.

Maybe a bit. Sometimes I'll do a half-ass homework assignment so I can play TF2 quicker.
