Also, i love duels against the eldar god-thingy, (avatar or something?) , the finishing moves with both of them are epic.

The problem with the Avatar is the fact that 150 flashlight lasgun shots will likely bring him down. My bro plays the imp guard, and he has learned to keep his squad of 50 conscripts in front of his tank. When the Avatar comes near, he uses a command for an extra shot, and my avatar falls. Drives me insane. Statistically, I should have one wound left after that barrage, but statistics are never precise.

The moment you you rely on statistics is the moment the dice gods bend you over the table and proceed to violate you. "Oh, I have enough fire powere that I have a good chance of at least wounding your Feeel no pain dudes" *rolls a series of mostly ones* "Meep.." *tau get charged by angry marines from across a mine field that did jack shit thanks to luck on the SM player's rolls*

Its a tough call between Space Marines or Imperial Guard, but I'm going to have to go with the Guard here. They are (mostly) ordinary guys, and are far more brave to go onto the battlefield without superpowers. They daily face horrors that would drive most people insane from fear. They are the true badasses of the 41st millennium.

I only fielded a combat patrol (my main game was necromunda) but I loved the idea of normal men and women facing off against power armoured super humans and multi-limbed aliens and winning.

Tyranids without a doubt. Seeing a trygon pop up out of the ground, followed by a carnifex, and ripping through a group of tanks is the most satisfying sight in the entire game

I do love me some space marines, though I haven't played the tabletop game in a long time. I do love playing DoW II Last Stand though, with a space marine captain that can beat a wraithlord in single combat. It's oh so fun.
