Werewolves. I'd go insane without being able to hangout with my friends or do sports outside.
Plus, I'd get a ring or something made out of moonrock so that i'd be able to control transformations too (Mad vampires?), then tie myself to a washing machine on a full moon. /win thread

vampire of course. absolutely nothing sounds pleasant about being a classic werewolf, you get to try to hide the fact that you turn into a monster every full moon (or maybe you don't even know) and be constantly at risk for killing the people you love.

unless we don't mean classic werewolves, maybe like underworld werewolves? that might be a slightly easier sell.

Werewolf. You are stronger and can appear in daylight. Plus if you can eventually control it, you will be awesome at night. Plus in certain Mythos werewolves get extended life spans so theres that.

Neither? Both are really played out at this point, so screw 'em.

If I had to choose one or the other I guess werewolf? Mostly because it has fewer drawbacks, and the ones it has you can at least plan around. Being a vampire would be awful. The problems with getting blood aside, you know what happens for the broad majority of night-time hours?

Abso-fucking-lutely nothing.

Nearly everything worthwhile is closed, and most people are at home or asleep. A vampire would be doomed to an eternity of late-night Denny's coffee and paid programming on TV. *Forever*. Think how crap that would be.

I feel like the original post needed to define which variety's were being discussed, the categories are to broad. If you just want us to choose... vampires are ridiculously overpowered. However, I'd be a werewolf because that's the only way a short white guy like me is ever going to be able to dunk, and from the free throw line no less.

To be honest i'd reather be the guy hunting them... but if I had to choose it would be Vampire! At least then I would be in my own mind in those periods... Don't forget in most warewolf incidents in pop culture, the human doesn't remember any of the situation where they are transformed, or they couldn't control themselves... and as a warewolf you only have your power 4-5 days a month.. (hmmm... losing control of emotion... getting angry... rampaging... happens once for a few days in a 28day cycle... remind you of anything?)

Depends on what particular mythos you are talking about. There are certain werewolf types that totally rock where you have a mildly inconvenient transformation into a wolf that you can even control. Others have it as a completely uncontrollable shift into a bloodthirsty monster with no control over your actions and, if you're lucky, no memory of the events. Vampires have a similar mythos problem.

Though all taken I would rather be a werewolf, I would just find a safe way to keep myself out of human contact at night. I couldn't bear being unable to walk out in the sun.

Vampire. I'll take any excuse to wear long black trench coat or cape and talk with fake-y russian accent.

I liked in Morrowind when you could be both.....soooo many buffs...

Vampire is nice for a stealth boost but you have to starve yourself for three days to get any good buffs...and if you accidentally let the fourth day go by and become a starved vampire say goodbye to every being allowed anywhere ever again.

Werewolf is cool because you can actually control it.

Neither.
I choose...dragon.

Since I'm not fond of either getting murdered by the sun, or turning into a furry.

Werewolf. Never bieng able to be out in the sun feels like a very unpleasant thought. I also would be able to live a fairly normal life as werewolf; all I would have to do is chain myself to rock in the forest once a month.

The Red Goblin said:
The only problem is that people nowadays seem to have no idea of the difference between werewolves and lycanthropes.
Fucking hell people are stupid, right? Please don't be that guy, it's an insignificant difference that isn't exactly cemented in language.

OT: Vampire fo' sho'. Vampires are pretty awesome when they're charming, suave and smooth with nobody knowing what you really are; I'd love to be that. Sure, going outside in the sun might be a bummer and not being able to enter anyone's house without them saying you can might land you in a couple awkward situations and who cares about garlic when you have an insatiable thirst for human blood. I could make it work.

I would say Vampires. For the mythology behind them is very...cultured, in comparison to the brutish ferocity of the werewolf. I do like having control of body and not have to maintain lunar knowledge. Defy gravity and certain mind-reading powers? Heck yes. Also, the lust for blood would be (Although annoying) interesting, as the murder of people would have to be planned and traced for execution, while werewolves charge without rhyme or reason to guide them.
I do like going outside, however... and the summer would be annoying with drum line and such...
I can deal.

(I can't find a good enough Innistrad Card to represent)

Werewolf, hands down. However, there I would have to be able to control it. I wouldnt want to go completely feral when I changed... I would have to retain my senses.
