Vampire. I'll take any excuse to wear long black trench coat or cape and talk with fake-y russian accent.
If you are talking about Dracula,

It's actually Hungarian. The actor Bela Lugosi spoke with a fairly heavy Hungarian accent. His portray of Dracula was so well received and popular, that the accent permanently became a part of the Dracula character.

Yes, yes I'm aware of that. I didn't actually have Bela Lugosi in mind (although I should, his take on the Dracula is definitive). Just couldn't think of a better way to describe it at the time. My bad. Not that I could ever match the awesome creepy presence he had. Kind, soft-spoken and at the same time threatening. Not to mention that bone chilling stare.

Also, a bit of trivia. I think first recorded vampire legends came from these parts (Croatia), more accurately Istria (Istra). Something about a peasant named Jure Grando who supposedly came back from the dead to terrorize his village. You're welcome world :p

werewolf of course. especially if I can control it id be fine with losing control if it was only once a month.Frankly i'd like it like this guy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Astounding_Wolf-Man

and on the subject of twilight vampires they actually appear better than the traditional kind it's just the way that we were introduced to them that was bad

I started thinking about werewolves and vampires and was thinking about which I would rather be. I chose werewolf because the are awesome and you might be able to scrape away a somewhat normal life. Plus I am a FUCKING wolf. I get to rip things apart with my bare hands, and no not the pussy twilight kind of either. I am talking one from horror movies not elder scrolls or twilight.
Can I pick Aesir or Vanir instead?

don't know who or what those are

The only problem is that people nowadays seem to have no idea of the difference between werewolves and lycanthropes.
Fucking hell people are stupid, right? Please don't be that guy, it's an insignificant difference that isn't exactly cemented in language.

OT: Vampire fo' sho'. Vampires are pretty awesome when they're charming, suave and smooth with nobody knowing what you really are; I'd love to be that. Sure, going outside in the sun might be a bummer and not being able to enter anyone's house without them saying you can might land you in a couple awkward situations and who cares about garlic when you have an insatiable thirst for human blood. I could make it work.
No, i will be that guy for a good fucking reason. Werewolves change during the full moon and they always have. It's a central part of being a werewolf. Lycanthropes however can change at will. It is far from an insignificant difference & It is entirely cemented in goddamn language.
If you want to be a vampire you'll sparkle when you go in the sun. Oh wait, vampiresdon't do that, one of the key parts of the myth has been changed. Thing 1 is now a different thing.

Aesir and Vanir are the two races of Norse gods. Odin, Thor, Balder, Heimdall, Sif are all Aesir, while Frey, Freya, and Njordir are Vanir.

It's not clear from the mythology whether they are exceptional members of their races or if they are the only ones. I get the impression that there are many of them, and the ones in the stories are exceptional for some reason (nobility?).

Werewolf :p
You'd get a lot of benefits that vampires get (super speed, strength etc) and in most cases you're godmode in wolf form since honestly who keeps silver bullets around?

Immortality may seem nice but it'll be more like hell when your family and friends die around you and you begin to realize how much it sucks so unless you're a lone wolf (pardon the pun, it was totally intended) you're better off being mortal.

The whole bloodlust in the moonlight occurs what once a month? just chain yo self up. According to what mythology we're going with could you just have a silver bangle on your arm to weaken the wolf form to the point that you don't go crazy? Parrently silver makes you ever revert to human or weakens you greatly so either way you can deal with the whole crazy fool moon scenario.

Werewolves are simply cooler than Vampires, and that's not just because Edward Cullen has helped bring Vampires down a notch.

Depends on which mythology we're following.
Are these bipedal or quadrupedal werewolves? Do I have full control of my mental faculties, or am I completely feral? Do I have any kinds of powers? How do I spread werewolfism?
Are these lame vampires, or super-special awesometastic vampires? Are we talking Bela Lugosi or Alucard? Does the sunlight kill me in a second, or do I smoke and sizzle for a while. For that matter, as someone mentioned earlier, couldn't I just conjure up a cloud of darkness and go about my business like that?

So... um... I think werewolf.

as long as we're talking old-school vampires, and not those glitter-emo-perversions that showed up (more or less) recently: vampire all the way; i mean, they got swag!

Oh, werewolves. All day everyday...Or just for the full moon. Vampires are surprisingly dull, being just a plain old humainoid with sharper straw teeth, whilst werewolves have the animalistic qualities that make them awesome.

Of course, on that note, I'd rather be a Lycanthrope. But seeing as that's not an option...egh, I'll stick with being a werewolf.
