Well one of my professors once told me that written language is the signal most important human creation. It is the invention of history and we have been able to advance so much in society, by absolutely know what came before us.

I'd have to say math, everything that we do involves at least some level of math, whether you realize it or not.

For instance, in music, the notes themselves are based on simple fractions, half-notes, sixteenth-notes etc.

Engineering is based heavily on math, geometry to be specific. We have all sorts of parallel and perpendicular lines, and certain angle degrees.

Art and poetry, not so much but you still get my point.

Humor. Humor is what allows me to be able to look at all the stupid crap going on in the world and not kill myself. Thanks to humor, I can go "ha ha!" instead of jumping down a well. Comedians and Matt Groening are the greatest achievers of all.

I said writing. I think that the power the English language has to command the art of writing, and story telling is impeccable.

I'd say engineering. In simplifying life for ourselves, we gain more freedom and leisure to persue the other things.

Edit: Bah ninja'd.

I chose math, but philosophy was a close second. Numbers are the only logical things in this entire universe that make sense. If we did not have math, our entire existence would be illogical and irrelevant. Philosophy tries to make sense of all the illogical bullshit we put up with in our lives, but it doesn't make it logical, as math does.

I like nice artwork (Not that dreadful modern art god no).
I once read a rather interesting metaphor regarding the evolution of art (if you can call it that) that I feel compelled to share:

Renaissance art is the world seen through the eyes of the artist.
Impressionism is how the world looks after a couple of glasses of vin rouge.
Expressionism is the world after the whole bottle.
Vorticism is the artistic equivalent of leaving the pub, walking into a lamp post and calling it "Dave".
Modern conceptual art is what you find splattered all over cars, privet hedges and the artist's windows.

I had to put 'other' because I'm biased against poetry. It's not the same as writing a book, which is what I believe to the worthy prospect.

Morality.

The Fact that People Acknowledge Humanity has done Wrong Puts us WAY ahead of the Lower animals
Do we Eat our Young? Do we consider murder acceptable? No. that is why we can be considered more Pious than Polar bears, Midge Flies, Sharks, etc.

Writing, because without it we would have nothing else.

Why do you think known human history only goes back about 6000 years or so. And why is we've advanced so rapidly in the past 3000. Documentation my friend, documentation.
