Furries are just a fanbase. The rule 34 section of the fanbase (Which I understand is a much smaller part of furry-dom and does not accurately resemble the entire group) is a bit creepy to me, but as long as they fulfill these... intrests through adult, consenting humans rather than the neighbor's cat, I don't find it all that much weirder than any other fanbase.
I do worry about what goes on in the mind of every otherkin I have encountered, but I just don't touch the matter. Though that's kinda like the people who think they're video game characters...
I have a lot of furry friends, and can enjoy some of things, like when people make really cute drawings of furry versions of popular characters or their own fursonas. But I'd like a chibi Timelord, and I don't know the first thing about Dr. Who, so I suppose I just find cute things universal.
Also, I do admit I like teasing furries a bit by bringing up "Sparkledogs" and watching their kneejerk reaction, but I mean it in good fun. Like watching one guy's reaction to telling them to draw "Sparklemustard," or a "Sparklelaptop." The "I STAB U WIT SPARKELKNIFE" was the best moment, I think. I got kicked from the game for that one, but then he messaged me later saying he found it hilarious.
Also, just please don't overtly sexual fursonas at me. Because Holy Shit, that bear's crotch is on fire. Literally. Please stop. Though again, that would be just as distressing on a human.
And that's the argument I keep coming down to: almost anything you could say bad about furries can just as easily be found in other fanbases or the internet in general. Therefore, judging all furries based on some weirdos is a shallow thing to do.
And honestly, I think most furry haters either think furry means bestiality, or they are afraid of possibly having any inclination of being one, and hate on it to overcompensate.
