Creepers and Skeletons just love to fuck with me at the doorway to my house.

I absolutely hate creepers. not only do they blow up and kill me, they insist on leaving these ugly craters all over my lawn. It's downright rude is what it is.

I die too much from falling off of my floating house or my floating tower with its ever-expanding glass roof with lava flows.

I as a Minecrafter from the very first hours. I had to mod it a little to get my replayability.
So my usual source of death is none of the mentioned, but THAT FUCKING OGRES. i love the mo`creatures mod. but those werewolves are nasty...ok...the ogres again are just unfair. nothing is safe when you suddenly hear that sound of an ogre demolishing your fortress while you are still mining way deeper in "safety"

Other players, mostly :\

I play a lot of PvP servers, but for the most part apart from that it's falling after losing a fight with some mobs and hastily trying to escape.

Lava, lava, lava. I do alot of tunneling, falling to death is hard where you're just above bedrock, also i am torch happy so not the mobs, i have yet to drown even once, but holy crap! LAVA!! digging minding my own bussines, Lava on the head. Ok super careful about stuff above now, all of as sudden fall into lava that is 2-3 blocks deep, can't get out... damn! ok watc the top watch the bottom. Boom comes out the side try to run but lava catches up, burn to death because i forgot to bring a water bucket. Man do i hate Lava.

There are lots of things in Minecraft out to kill you. Even on peaceful, you aren't immune from the game over screen. My question is: What is your most common cause of death?

Oh and Notch, if you're reading. I'd be really curious if you have some kinda stats on this.
What's killing me is how many people play for that long. After I did a castle on a friend's computer... I got bored to tears.

I'm playing on peaceful mode while I set up my enormous mob trap deep underground (sitting just above bedrock, its current dimensions are 100x100x3 and features a huge system of water channels leading to the centre killing/collection point.

What kills me the most is dead dropping into lava when I get careless and just mine-run at the walls. Also, The incinerator I built killed me more than a few times, again due to carelessness... I now prevent this by placing a dirt block in the incinerator, throwing all my unwanted stuff on the block then punching the block out so everything falls into the lava.

Second most deaths goes to falling because of my tower, which extends to the game "ceiling". I wouldn't die that often really if I didn't decide to build battlements that extend over the walls of the tower.

And more deaths when I decided that a cobblestone tower was tacky so I elected to tear it down block by block replacing it with stone.

Many, many, many hours later and I've decided that it was a bad idea because I could have just downloaded a new texture pack that had good looking cobblestone. Like Aza's Arid Pack. That cobblestone looks good...

Oh well... Back to the underground.

Lava. What will usually happen is, I'll come across a lava flow while exploring a cave and make a mental note that it's there and to be VERY CAREFUL around it. Then I'll come back later for some reason, like to mine some ore in the vicinity or to try and harvest the lava itself, and despite being VERY CAREFUL, I will inevitably misstep and fall in anyway.

One time I found a lava flow and an underground waterfall practically right next to each other, separated by a small area of stone floor. I was being very careful around both, because I didn't want the water to flow into the lava the wrong way and ruin the obsidian farming I was planning to do. I started to pick my way around the edge of the lava pool to get at some Lapis ore on the far side, fell in, climbed out, and somehow managed to panic sufficiently that I couldn't quite make it to the waterfall, which was only a few steps away, in time to dunk myself in the water and prevent my embarrassing, fiery death.

Creepers on my minecart tracks. I hit them, go back the other way, and can only watch as my network is destroyed. That tears me up inside more than actually dying.

Mostly creepers....
But occasionally i get pushed off a cliff by a passive mob turn around and slap it in the face in anger and it turns out to be a spider so just as I hit the ground with 2 hearts and barely survive and angry pushy spider jumps off after me and finishes me off.

Creepers and spiders get me quite a bit recently I've been dying a lot due to crashes while mining. Whenever I log back in after a crash while mining underground the cobblestone/dirt/sand/whatever has reappeared around me and I'm crushed to death, guess I need to save more.

Only 3 people for zombies? I've been killed by them three times lately. I'm still learning what constitutes 'safe' when sleeping and frequently get a wake-up call from a zombie before I wake up naturally.
