Either falling or lava, most times combine with my own stupidity.

My current cave is self-reliable, so I just hide in it.

I think falls kill me the most. Followed by getting caught on fire by falling near lava, I just run away from it and hope all my stuff doesn't burn. Then it would be gravel when I'm not being careful and just keep walking forward.

Oh, and I've been killed by a tree growing when I was on it, that was unexpected.

Mining Accidents mostly. Pro tip: When using ungodly amounts of TNT to remove mountains, *Always* use redstone triggers. You cannot run fast enough to get clear in five seconds.

I so far have never died from lava or falling, but creepers murder the shit out of me on a regular basis.

Now? nothing really. I went and turned the difficulty all the way up because I've got a pretty secure base/mine system and nothing really threatens me.

Earlier? got blown up by creepers a couple times.

Only 3 people for zombies? I've been killed by them three times lately. I'm still learning what constitutes 'safe' when sleeping and frequently get a wake-up call from a zombie before I wake up naturally.
try having the outside walls of your house at least 2 blocks away from your bed on all sides. Also/alternatively, put your bedroom on the second or third story of your house/keep/whatever.

I can usually survive everything in Minecraft. But then gravity decides it's time to remind me that I am not invincible and sends a zombie to give me a gentle "push".

Lava. It used to be falling, but then I decided "Hey, I have a house in the sky. But I don't have railings. Hmmmm, should I put in railings? Yeah...railings"

Lava. It used to be falling, but then Notch added sneaking, so falling is practically idiot-proof now.

I'm wondering what this says about the 120 people who picked Falling in the poll...

Is it just me or are Creepers more hair-trigger than they used to be? Seems like they explode at the slightest provocation now, and backing away at speed doesn't stop the countdown as reliably as it used to.

I'm glad someone picked up on that; yes that was a VERY passive-aggressive slight towards those who STILL die by falling in Minecraft.

I wouldn't know, I just arrow the crap out of them at range.

I like digging straight down. Guess what my main death is?
Well, Lava is the first thing that comes to mind, but it might not always be. You're just as likely to fall into a cave complex where a combination of some minor falling damage and major mob damage might do you in.
