Fallout: New Vegas.

Fallout 3 drew me in and this is the game that I've been looking forward to almost more than Portal II...

Battlefield 3! Can't wait for the battlefield goodness to return. Also Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam but that's not really a new game. I'm not that big on FPS games though.

Bulletstorm! Seriously, it looks like everything a FPS should be. I'm hoping it will fill the void left in my heart from Timesplitters :(

I'm probably gonna get Killzone 3. Three words. Fucking. Rocket. Minigun. I think I've said enough.
Oh yeah also vehicles in multiplayer now and a new melee system so we'll wait and see how that works out.

Also I'll say CoD: BlOps, since it's the first CoD I've ever been actually interested in.

That. Because it reminds me of Battlefield 2142 crossed with Mirrors Edge crossed with APB three games I enjoyed very much. Also Bethesda haven't dissapointed me yet.
Oblivion? Also Bethesda is the publisher, not the developer.

To be honest, I wasn't bothered too much about this topic enough to research and produce a full essay on it, but if you were describing to someone about Portal, you would not say it is an FPS, ever. It probably isn't even classed as an FPS. There is no weapons for the player to use and the portal gun doesn't really count as one. The enemy's using weapons is irrelevant anyway so I don't see why anyone would classify it as an FPS.
Alright, let me break down the sentence and add my two cents:

While true enough, you might not add that Portal is a FPS doesn't mean it's not a FPS.
It is classed as a FPS.
There are no weapons in Portal. So what? Explain to me why it's necessary for a FPS to have weapons.
The clue is in FPS, the S stands for shooter. I am pretty sure you need some kind of weapon to shoot with. I don't remember reading anywhere that it classed Portal as an FPS, so therefore, it is not an FPS.

Kinda tied between Rage and Bulletstorm.
Over the top mayhem done by the same guys who did Painkiller (one of my favourite games of all time) or Post apocalyptic fun done by the same guys who did Doom (another favourite of mine)

EDIT: (4th September): You can now add Duke Nukem: Forever to the mix. Hail to the King Baby!

Why are people bitching about Modern Warfare 2? Sure the single player campaign was bloody short but it was bloody brilliant as well, there was little to no realism but it was SPECTACULAR.

As for me, probably all of them.

There is a gun. That shoots. It's called the Portal Gun. It shoots portals.
