Poll: Why do YOU like anime?

To each his own, but I'm curious as to why people seem to like anime so much. It's like..cartoons made by 6 year olds that have Asian (Japanese to be specific) eyes, and extremely graphic violence.

Ofcourse, that's just what I get from it.

Pray tell, how many animes have you seen? It's all over the spectrum. Such a generalization could be dangerous.

So I make-ith a poll, which asks you what you think of Anime and Manga (..which are kinda the same thing except manga is an anime comic book..right?).

No. Manga is the Japanese equivalent to graphic novels, not comic books. There's a difference. And anime can be stand-alone or based off a successful manga series.

Anyway, it's popular because, as aforementioned, it's all over the spectrum. You could have a series of cutesy chibi characters going through comedic misadventures, or you could get a serious, detailed, dramatic and epic story with realistic character designs. The diversity is what makes it appealing to many.

I never cared to watch any anime. Actually, I watched like a minute and 30 seconds from Bleach and just couldn't take what kind of crappiness it was.

That explains a lot. After the first 18, skippable-if-you-know-what's-going-on episodes, it gets awesome. And a minute and 30 seconds isn't even enough to get through the theme song...

Before you're like "omg u have an anime avatar" yes, I know. I like Cowboy Bebop. It was a GOOD anime. It had... Well, not necessarily a good story. Just amazing story telling techniques. Every other anime I've ever seen is stupid kids with swords.

I guess my point is this: don't judge an entire genre. Sure, I hated anime before I saw Cowboy Bebop. I still hate it. Probably as much as you do. But, I found something I liked. Maybe you could too. I'm not saying give it a chance. I don't care. Just be mindful of your ignorance.

Anime is just a way of stating "Japanese style cartoons", there are quite a few pumped out for a quick "buck".
Much like shitty American movies, only less expensive to make.

This is because the Japanese don't look at cartoons like a kid's medium, so you get people doing the same things they do with movies with "cartoons".

Pumping out cheap ones to entertain the masses.

Your statistics are obviously bullshit, but I'm sure you know you were exaggerating terribly. Really, which ones have you watched? Ah... that's right. Above, you said that you 'don't watch anime'. So, that generally means the only contact with that form of media is through hentai, which is very different.

Yes, most of them have big breasts, but a large number of them don't have ones bigger than their heads.

There are a few anime that break away from the norms. I recommend you give them a try before you judge.

Cowboy Bebop is a classic action show about bounty hunters in space with a film noir setting and jazzy soundtrack. it's regarded by many as the best anime of all time. Watch it in English.

Code Geass is about an exiled prince that wants to take down his old country. He uses a power to control people's minds called the Geass. Sure, there are giant fighting robots but there's a ton of political intrigue and betrayal as well.

Anything by Miyazaki is good. Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, etc.

Finally Welcome to the NHK is about a shut in and the girl that attempts to break him out of his antisocial shell. it deals with a lot of psychological problems and while the first episode may be off-putting it becomes really deep and full of some dark comedy as the show goes on.

Just try the best before you judge man. 90% of anything is shit. You just gotta find what's good.

There was a thread like this yesterday.

It dosn't matter where it comes from or what it looks like. THEY'RE JUST STORIES WITH VISUAL AID. If you wached TV and saw only The View would I say "dur I dun get telavizon derp." NO. All anime is different. All weebos need to die. Now GTFO and use the search bar.

I just did, and all the threads that showed up were far from what I was asking. And the one that showed the closest resemblance was from Late April.

And like I said in my post, to each his own, I understand people like different stuff, and saying 'CUZ PEEPZ LIEK DIF STUFZ, LUL' doesn't make you seem very intelligent, and makes me think you didn't even read my post.
