Because they're fun, the same reason you do any hobby really. It's been my mainstay of entertainment. I've been gaming since I was about 4-5 years old (now 23), that's a lot of game time, and I like to think I have a good level of skill.

Stress relief. I need it. I'm a teacher. My students get really peeved that I won't give out my steam name though.

For fun. It's one of many hobbies I have, and have had for many years. It's kinda hard to let it go so to speak.
It's also why I have no problems quitting games like World of Warcraft when what brougth me in has run out. If I'm not having fun, I'm not gonna play.

Yeah, for fun. I mean where else can you be someone you are not or maybe even want to be. Have the power or the impunity doing something you can't for whatever the reasons.

Depends on the game, to be honest. Some games I play for fun, and some I play for some kind of artistic experience. Although, to be fair there are very few that fit in the latter category for me, so I'm just gonna go ahead and pick fun.

It's the only thing I could ever be proud of my abilities in. It's also a good distraction from real life and people's judgement.

For the ladies~ 8)

Eh, its for a number of reasons. Fun, to waste time, to help me forget my horrible day at work, to shoot things, to live a different life, to get ideas, to help me sleep, to piss me off.....

The list really goes on. And yes. For the ladies~ 8) becasue chicks dig guys who dig games.

Videogames are my preferred source of entertainment. A close second would be reading literature. To say I simply play for fun seems lacking. After all, whatever one's reason, one assumes they are having fun. I enjoy getting achievements and playing with friends. I find both fun, but neither serve as the sole reason I play videogames, and I have fun doing both. It just seems like too broad an option.

While I had dabbled with the various Sega beforehand, the release of the Nintendo 64 was when I became a hardcore gamer. I loved that console. I'd get up at six in the morning on weekends to play it as much as possible. And my first favourite game ever was Goldeneye, Until it was replaced by Zelda: Ocarina of Time when I got it.

For fun, basically. Occasionally to relieve stress, but mostly for fun.
And to some degree because I'm a hopeless story addict. I spend far too much on games, books and films just because I like stories. It doesn't even have to be a good tale if it has an interesting idea behind it...

All of them.

I play World of Warcraft and Counterstrike: Source to kill a bit of time in a fun way.

I play Starcraft II and Bad Company 2 to own n00bz.

I play Fallout: New Vegas because it's art and because I like to be immersed in a world.

I played Mafia II and Half-Life 2 because I love a good story.

I played Lord of the Rings: Online as an RP character to help develop my creative writing skills.

I play games for fun and just to escape from the real world for a little while. Although recently I have become quite the achievement whore with some indie games.
