Poll: Why do you play games?

Escapism. I like to take the role of another character; to see a world through another's eyes. I also enjoy the story and the world i am placed in. It's a chance to leave the homogeneity of everyday life and enter the fantastical. Also for entertainment of course, and the chance to do things we cannot outside of games. For example, games are the only way we can shoot at things or fling lightning bolts, or wield lightsabers.

Oh, and i'm also a bit of an achievement addict. So there's that too.

Depends on the game Im playing.
Usually its just to experience what the game has to offer, whether it be fun interactive gameplay, a great story, or hopefully both.
All in all, I play them to enjoy myself.
