i think DF's awesome. all of the members are experts of their fields, high-pinch vocals, faaast guitar riffs ( i dont care that they cant do it live, then dont ****ing hear 'em live) awesome drums, strong bass and epic keys. i think we (DF and their fans) are just ahead of our time

People take Dragonforce way too seriously, always makes me laugh when people are raging about them.

8 minute songs with 4 minutes of nonsensical Speed soloing is the problem.
they are not a bad band, but Herman Lee is overhyped and an assumed Virtuoso because he can play arpeggios really fast. Power Metal as a whole is laughable and the only band I ever thought was good from the genre was Blind Guardian.
Must.. resist... the urge... to kill...

People only know them because of guitar hero. That's why I hate them. Seriously, would you know Dragonforce if it weren't for Guitar Hero???
I knew about Dragonforce long before they were in Guitar Hero

I haven't decided which is worse: their music, or the fact that threads like this pop up entirely too often.

I believe all the specifics about why people don't like their music have been made clear by previous posters (highly technical playing with zero musical substance, etc). Far more annoying than being ear-raped is the fact that some fans won't just let the issue die. The debate has been going for several years, with no clear victor to date.

The worst thing (for me) about Dragonforce is that their fans are completely convinced of their awesomeness, and often (not always) take it to evangelistic levels of annoyingness. This doesn't mean that Dragonforce fans are wrong to believe such things, but rather they are wrong to "take it to the streets." Easily the most un-metal part of the Dragonforce craze is the overzealous fanboys.

To the Dragonforce fans: please, just let it go already. Some of us don't like the band, some of us don't like the fans. It's incredibly easy to fix one of these problems. It starts with not fighting over this anymore. When all the pointless debate is over, pick up some Dream Theater and see if you like it as much.

To my fellow haters: We stand little chance of converting Dragonforce fans by such meaningless pandering. Leave them alone, and maybe they'll just drop the issue once and for all. Perhaps recommend transitional bands instead of building a wall to keep them out of the "good metal".

I do get that some people think they're repetitive, but why does it call for hate and stupid profanity? Every DF video, 90% claim that they suck. When will people learn to be more respectful and less judgemental? Oh, and while I'm on it, a little survey on what the Escapists think of them.
They can't play as fast live as they do on albums.

They've also tricked alot of younger guitar players into thinking it's all about how fast you can play the same four notes over and over.
True, they've gone a bit in over their heads, but lately they've been cleaning up their act. Also, the young guitar player thing, they've never said that as I recall, it's just plain stupidity by the young lings. It's true, they play fast, but that's nothing to idealize above anything else.

They have their heads firmly lodged up their asses and are all the worse for it.
I hate them because they do't make good music. All they do is play really fast music, which quite frankly, I think sounds terrible. Plus being able to play live well is he sign of a good band for me, if they lack this then I have no interest in listening to them.
PS(I changed the quote but I don't know how you put the changes in bold, any help?)

They're good, not great. Crazy sick solos for 4 minutes leaves me like okay... where did the song go. They're quite good songs but they seem to overstay their welcome for me. For those of you who think it's just insane power metal, listen to down over a new world, not the same as the rest, probably their best song and incidently their shortest. So overall, a good band but the solo's are too long and crazy.

I used to listen to it, than I decided it was getting repetative and a bit too loud. I still recognise their solo's as being really badass, but since I probably heard them too much I can't be bothered to listen to them anymore. Been there, done that, time to move on. Nothing lasts forever.

Whether or not they speed up they're songs, I still believe that they are talented instrumentalists. However, that doesn't make them a good band. Their songs are not musically interesting, their lyrics are cliched, and they just don't have any substance underneath the ridiculous speed.

I think a lot of the hate comes from that fact that Guitar Hero really brought them to into the forefront of people's minds. The whole, "It's that damned song I can't seem to master on expert! IT SUCKS!" mentality.

Really though, I dunno... I can't form much of an opinion because I have not heard enough of their music.

I voted good. I really dont know much about dragonforce but all I know is that playing 'through the fire and flames' in the background will make almost anything you do epic. Like yakety sax makes stuff funny.

I don't understand the hate entirely either, but I think it has something to with the fact that nearly every single song they play sound almost exactly like Through the Fire and the Flames, thats what it was for me anyhows.

I like them, but they are sold under false pretenses, using Esticato to make it sound like they are playing faster than they are, and also use keyboards that sound like guitars... and also, guitar hero kinda made people think it was harder than it is.
What does The Darkness have to do with this!?
Wasn't it Jackie Estacado? I could be wrong, though.
