wether it's good or not i will play it and most likely enjoy it enough, but i highly doubt the fanbase is going to like it. which has nothing to do with the game itsself but rather the exorbitant amount of whining that is the core of the bioware fanbase. so i say not a chance in hell it will go over very well no matter what bioware does, however for me personally they can't really screw it up at all.

Mass Effect 2 was a massive dissapointment for me. But everyone else seems so easily impressed, that they will enjoy whatever crap ends up being released. So yeah, it will probably suck and manage to live up to the hype at the same time.
Be careful of insulting ME2 around here. There's a massive number of EA fanboys on these forums ...
Woah there, that's Bioware fanboys, not EA. Technically the same entity but there's a distinction between the two, and not respecting that is Fightin' Words Round These Parts. Also, I understand respecting differences of opinion and all that, but accusing people of being fans of EA? That's beyond the pale my friend.

On Topic: I don't really have expectations beyond it being roughly as good as ME 1 and 2 were, which was pretty damn. Bioware hasn't let me down [sub] (except that one time we don't talk about)[/sub]

I have high hopes for it, but I honestly don't think anyone is allowed to say anything solid until the game actually comes out.

I'm sorry, but what hype? All I've seen and heard outside promo art and articles, is how much everyone and their grandma doubts it'll be any good at all. I am fully looking forward to it, but no matter how good it is, from what I've heard on this site, it will exceed the "hype" no matter how good it is.

Really? Because there's been a ton of "this will be better than a million second comings of Christ!"

All I'm expecting out of Mass Effect 3 is tight gunplay (Like ME2's), the RPG elements they've already shown us (I think they're the deepest of the franchise), and a solid conclusion to Shepard's story. I have complete and utter faith in BioWare's ability to deliver on all three fronts.

And the co-op looks neat, despite my knee-jerk negative reaction to it.

given how much of a train wreck DA2 was, i am holding out hope they don't fuck ME3 up as bad.

that said, i have doubts it will resolve the series satisfactorily. but hopefully i will be wrong.

but given that it is going to be an origin exclusive title is already a strike against it.

No idea how I missed those threads, but I'll take your word for it. After all, it is a AAA title.

I like ME1, I liked ME2 even more than ME1, hell for that matter I liked DA2 far more than DA:O so on that front for me, Bioware's sequels have done me well I see no reason to think ME3 will fail now.

I might be biased but I say no, after what they did with Mass Effect 2 and Dragon age 2, they aren't aiming for my demographic anymore.

Voted probably not as a general consensus.

Personally I'm sure it will. I'm not a crazy fan of the Mass Effect series. I felt ME1 was weak and ME2 was a great fun to play but not that interesting story wise.

I'm not going into ME3 expecting an amazing closure or story. I'm going into expecting fun gameplay and mediocre story telling with a couple of good characters and interesting decision choices and boring mini-games/side quests. The reality is I'm sure the game will deliver on this.

Well I expect it to be meh. Problem solved. o-o

I mean if it doesn't live up to the "hype" there isn't any real consequence. If people don't like it, they don't buy it. If people like it they'll buy it. Although I suppose there are those who are already like zomgbbq pre-order and automatically assume it must be good. Those people may be severely disappointed. Unfortunate indeed, but it was their decision. :D

Woo. :3

I had serious doubts with Mass Effect 2 because it was so hyped. But it delivered. I'm sure Mass Effect 3 will deliver a great experience.

What hype? Am i the only on this site thats not hyped about this game at all? I cant be the only one that thought ME2 was an overrated, bad RPG and an average 3rd person shooter?

Mass Effect 3 WILL be great, if nothing else, than because I'll finally be able to give closure to the three Sheppards I have at time of writing (Planning on adding a fourth to the family pretty soon...). Also it will be the last EA game I ever buy, I'm so pissed at them about everything they do. But I'm still buying ME3, day of launch, I would still buy it if it where being sold to me by the devil. (Which it kind of is)

OT: I haven't really seen a lot of hype for ME3. All of the information I can find on it makes me think it'll be the best in the series, though (in my opinion, obviously).

Who's expectations? I bet that a large portion of the gaming community will be unsatisfied no matter how good ME3 is. As long as it delivers more of the same stuff that ME2 had I'll be happy.

This seems like a very silly question; we haven't played the game yet, so we have no idea how it will live up to our expectations. That expectations word there, that's the one you should be focusing on when the game isn't even out yet.

Surely that would depend on exactly what expectation we're referring to.

My expectation is, "great game similar to Mass Effect 2". The pre-release material I have seen so far has not disappointed me.
