I'm going to buy it, but not now. I'll get it for PS3 when there are used copies for $40. This season has a lot coming out. I played the Resistance 2 Beta and I completely forgot about Far Cry 2. Not to mention Fallout 3, Littlebigplanet, Left 4 Dead, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space (which is amazing), the list goes on. I wasn't a big fan of the old Far Cry games and I'm not too big on Crysis, but this seems to be better in gameplay terms. So, when it drop in price, i'm all over it.

Apparently it's been pushed back to the 23rd, at least in my area (Toronto). Fucking assholes, they never meet the release dates. Buying a game these days is a major pain in the ass.
ya same here, I went to Ebgames today and the guy said its not out yet.
WTF?!? I broke into tears because I couldn't burn burn the african savana.

Is there any reason as to why it was delayed or has Canada just become the newest member in the Random Delay Club?

I am really considering buying it, but undecided. This DRM business is not helping, because I like having the choice of which platform to purchase it for, and in practice it limits me to the Xbox. I might get it for Xbox, but I'm afraid of missing out on mods or other features.

Eh, get over it people. DRM is no big deal, I've never any problems from secuROM, and it uses an utterly negligable amount of resources. I don't understand the fits of outrage some people have about it.

In my opinion, and in the opinion of many developers, piracy is killing PC gaming and if a little DRM is what it takes to make publishers more happy about developing games for the PC I'm happy to overlook it for the sake of my favorite platform.

I'll get Far Cry 2 when I get a new rig. My computer would gently weep were I to try it now.

As for DRM, I'm all for *something* to stop pirating. I'll play by their rules if they will keep making me games.

I never cared about music piracy because music will not stop if people don't make money. However, if game developers don't make money, they'll go do something else.

Nope, I am not going to be buying Far Cry 2 or any game that has "limited installs" of any type. That means no Far Cry 2, Spore, X3 ect. Its none of their business how many times I want to re-install my game's after I have purchased it. I'm not paying full price to "rent" my games or have hidden software installed on my PC. Yes, It means I am missing out on some good games but so be it. Thankfully there are still plenty of good games coming out without this stupid form of DRM.

Its a shame really. I love gaming, and have always paid for legit copies of my games. Now with these restrictive forms of DRM they are just pissing off legit customers like myself, all the while it doesn't hurt or stop the pirates in the least.

I agree they need to protect their properties but they have gone to far.

At least Fallout 3 isn't going this route, Thank God.

I've decided to boycot all future games made by Crytec. Their unrealisticly high system requirements have made me upgrade and fiddle with my PC to try to make their games play smoothly for the last time. I did it with Crysis and Far Cry, but never again. I never did get either of those two games to play as smoothly as they are supposed to without turning down the graphics settings. Their games are notorious for bringing even the really expensive gaming rigs to their knees. How pointless. A shooter game is a shooter game and doesn't need graphics that stinking complex to be a good game.

You get an install back when you uninstall. It's in the OP.
And you're limited to 3 PC's. Nobody knows exactly what is meant by this as, technically, putting in a new HD makes it a different PC. Since this has been the case with other DRM's in the past, there's a major issue. If upgrading my PC means that I will be counted against this, then there might as well only be 3 total installs as I usually have a parts failure once every 8 months.

In other words, they are indirectly dictating upgrades to your PC.

Hmmm...i could have sworn it was a ps3-only game....is there a ps3 only FPS that has some reputation also being released around now?

I'm never going to buy or download it. I never liked the original.

It is however possible to remove SecuRom, but you will be unable to play games with DRM, and you will have to remove it every time you install a new game that comes with SecuRom.(which includes demos of games with SecuRom)
Removing SecuRom will give you a 50% or more improvement on start up time on games.

EDIT: Removing SecuRom requires you to start games with no-cd cracks/patches, if you don't SecuRom will reinstall the next time you start the game.

It's slightly odd a pirated game doesn't treat you like a criminal, but one you buy does.

Hmm.
With DRM you are 'renting' the game.

Already bought it on Steam, actually. Should start preloading now, I guess. It will be decrypted and I will be able to play on the day it is released.

I won't buy it, but thats not saying much as I wasn't planning to even before the DRM came out (I didn't like FarCry 1 myself)

EDIT: XKCD sums up DRM beautifully, however: http://xkcd.com/488/
