No, I'll wait for Saints Row 5 or 6. I like having a game like that to goof about in, but they bore me if I play them seriously. So I get one game like that per gen for cheap, and I prefer Saint's Row crazyness over GTA. Then again I only played SR2 so I don't know how crazy it got in 3.
Aside from the 'Australian Argument' (which is [for now] easily remedied) I am probably not going to bother.
I played SR2 and loved it. Sure, the PC port was bad, but the storyline in that game was perfect to me. The writers managed to make me sympathise with some very unlikable characters, and the many plot turns in that game were fantastic.
The murders of Carlos and Aisha, and the actual rise of the Saints through Stilwater were gripping moments, and I ended up caring more about the Saints than I would have otherwise.
In SR3, there's no reason to care about the 3rd Street Saints. They are totally unlikeable. Sure they make an attempt at getting us to care:
the death of Johnny Gat
But without the context of the second game, it's kinda meaningless.
Not to say SR3 wasn't an enjoyable game, no. I loved it. It was a fun romp and it was as over the top as promised. The opening scene still stays with me, even now, as one of the best action sequences I've seen to date. But the story is hamfisted, and there's no reason to give a rats patootie about the characters at all.
I hope they fix it in SR4:
Although bringing back Johnny Gat makes the entire premise of SR3 pointless
But I'm not holding my breath.
Apologies for the spoiler tag abuse, but I tried to keep things fresh for those who haven't played the games...if these people exist.
I don't particularly care about crime games or sandbox games, and have never played an SR game before, but I'll buy it because no game where I play a president and do crazy shit has ever let me down before.
Probably not, the thing that they focused on in the Third, silly and over the top stuff, was something I didn't like. From what I can see number 4 is more of that.
I like Saints Row 2 the most where silly and over the top was optional and up to the player. The underlying story was serious and if you wanted to play through it with a nude character you could.
Yeah, I'll buy it on launch. I just wish the game didn't look so kooky. I feel like SR2 had the perfect atmosphere and then they kept cranking up the crazy.
Does anyone know if the customization is the same? From what I'm reading, they've kept the same map and the same graphics, I just hope they weren't lazy enough to keep the exact same clothes.
Maybe when it's a 10 or 20 dollar game. Saints Row 3 was mediocre at best and represented a lot of things I hate in gaming. I refused to support THQ after that and the jury's still out on Deep Silver.

Nope. Saints Row: The Third was meh at best. And Saints Row 4 looks like more of the same, but worse. I don't mind the game being over the top, but it lost me at the Dubstep gun. Because Dubstep hasn't been overdone has it?!
I'll rent it or pick it up in a bargain bin in a year or two, like I did with the last one. Saints Row games are fun for a couple hours, but get old fast. They certainly aren't worth 60 bucks.
Maybe if they hired a talented comedian to write the dialogue the game would be more enjoyable. Their current writers are terrible, ridiculous =/= funny.
No unless if its 10 dollars, or free on psn plus, which I will have to get to play online on ps4. Gta5, infamous second son, and watch dogs is up to my alley of action rpgs.
I'm sure everyone is tired about the Australian controversy over this game, so I'm going to pretend that it never got denied classification.
Now follow me into a world where some of us want to be~

As a fan of the series, I loved the first two games in the series.
Saints Row 2 probably stands as one of my favorite series of all time.
So yes, I will buy it. Though unfortunately I think Saints Row: The Third cut out many good parts that the second game provided. The story was "meh", the characters were "Okay", the fun activities were cut/replaced by the boring original activities that we have seen a million times over, some were even replaced by that Genki crap. WORST OF ALL ...
They dumb-ed down the customization.
All I hope for is that the IV game in the series restores the fun/badass parts of the SR series.

... well only if it gets let into the country that is, if not ... well I'll just wait for GTA V. :/
already pre orderd it
the same map i can life with and looking at the specs needed to run it for the pc go higher then saint row 3 so they must have polish'd the game up a tad so that's never a bad thing.
and well it looks like loads of fun so yeah i was gonna get it one way or another
Fuckin' oath, I will. I adored Saints Row The Third, so there's no chance I'm skipping IV. I'm Australian though, so I'll be getting it imported. Might have to wait a little while after release to receive it (unless someone knows a handy website that will ship the UK version, Xbox or PC, to Aus on/a little before release).
Enter the Dominatrix expansion was cancelled and then announced as a SR4 merge before Deep silver got their hands on the IP, it was THQ who did this. Also, graphically speaking it hasn't really improved since SR1. Apparently SR3 featured an upgraded, modified engine version of the one featured in SR2.
Again, also, SR4 has been in "development" since SR3 was released.
Maybe. It does look pretty fun, but given how cheap you can currently get SR3 for with all of it's tons of DLC included I just don't know that I'd feel comfortable pulling the trigger on it any time soon. It's almost a definite buy for me at some point assuming it's reception is good, but it's almost definitely not a get it right now game.
Probably, but like with Saints Row the Third I'm going to have a long hard look at it before buying it. The Third slowly grew on me, but was a bit too silly at times. I'll just wait and see how much news IV will bring.
