I'm not trying to be poetic, and if I'm the one in charge of death, I'm pretty sure I'd have a bit more control over when and how people die. [footnote]Death is not a desk job.[/footnote]

So yeah, being the angel of death would be great fun.

Yeah! No one should ever die ever. The Grim Reaper is responsible for making sure things are dead when they die; he's not a fucking serial killer.

As a psychopomp fan, I wouldn't mind taking a job as a fellow psychopomp. The reason he's probably recruiting me would either be me being a virgin or I need some character development. Being a reaper would just be a incentive for me to work.

so...I get hit by a bus, then get propositioned to take over Death's job, inheriting his power, but also his curse, or I could just get up and get with my life like nothing every happened. Hhhmm, let me think about it, I'll take my life back THANKS! Who wants to experience the anguish of every person's life they reap, EVERY TIME THEY DO IT? If it was just going around doing death things, yeah sure, but the idea needs to be a bit more defined. Is it like the show Dead Like Me? Or am I like some sort of omniscient being? Still I don't think the pros outweigh the cons, so count me out.

I would do it in a heart beat.

I would be the version of death that is super social, trying to have a amusing conversation to the guy who is about to die, and for amusement I would let them challenge me to any game that they want to play and the wager would be to live another year or die. Otherwise, I will take the Two face approach, and let the person who is about to die flip a coin, rules of the coin vary depending on the wager, as wagers make the inevitable eternity of killing people a little less dull when you can give them some false hope!

I would continue with life, because I could never live with all that guilt and all that responsibility.

I'd personally consider it an honor to bring people into the next life.

It's not my place to judge people, but everyone dies and it's better to have a guide than to have to go it on your own. I'd take up the offer.

I can't tell if you are being serious or not

If you are: Well, people are going to die. There is no way around it. It is going to happen to everyone. Not only are people going to die, they need to die. Quite frankly, life couldn't function without death. I don't get how we would be "monsters" if we took him up on this deal. I don't see what difference it makes if it is you or some other guy reaping souls, so you may as well get the super powers. Hell, I actually may sell the knowledge of when people are going to die to them.

If you aren't: ....(I got nothing)

No, I'm not sure if we're on the same page here. Death as a function is not what I'm appauled by, its reading posts like 'yeah, that'd be fun', that is what makes me sick. People dying is a natural part of like, naturally or otherwise.

Let me use wikipedia so we are like minded.

Death (personification)From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Grim Reaper)

The concept of death as a sentient entity has existed in many societies since the beginning of history. In English, Death is often given the name Grim Reaper and, from the 15th century onwards, came to be shown as a skeletal figure carrying a large scythe and clothed in a black cloak with a hood. It is also given the name of the Angel of Death or Devil of Death or the angel of dark and light (Malach HaMavet) stemming from the Bible.

In some cases, the Grim Reaper is able to actually cause the victim's death,[1] leading to tales that he can be bribed, tricked, or outwitted in order to retain one's life, such as in the case of Sisyphus. Other beliefs hold that the Spectre of Death is only a psychopomp, serving to sever the last ties between the soul and the body and to guide the deceased to the next world without having any control over the fact of the victim's death.

So yes, by that standard he is

I am being serious, I don't think its healthy for humans to want to kill other humans, with no motive, incentive or without defending ones self. Sell the knowledge? Ok, in this situation, its similar to Santa Claus (stay with me). He's meant to be in several places at once, doing the same thing, killing people. This means where he goes and what he does are pre-determined, since of course he knows when all will die at any given moment, in order to meet his schedule.

I am not questioning the function of death, everyone should know it is a vital part of all life on earth, the wanting to be death, is what I find sick, not the actuallity of the fact.

If we not gonna get a flame war out of this...the answer is hell yeah. I'm none too Christian, but I honestly don't think anyone can deny it has some of the most badass stories ever put to paper (Genesis excluded of course O:) ) Archangel of death...or as the Greek Orthodox goes Supreme Commander of the Heavenly Hosts. To everyone saying it's sick, I think there's something much more reconcilable in Michael, you know what with the scales and whatnot. Being the sworn enemy of Satan sounds pretty great.

But then again...who didn't immediately think back to their childhood when this topic came up-- I'm looking at you Deathscythe:

As far as deals go, I've heard worse... I'd accept that deal, besides I prefer to be busy... Though knowing about the end of all life would suck, but then I just have to wait a few billion years for life to pop up somewhere else in the universe/multiverse

What you appear to be missing here is the fact that you also basically become super human and are responsible for death, which means you'd be able to leave anyone you want alive.

That seems pretty fucking entertaining to me.

Hell yeah i would take up the offer especially since "carrying on life as normal" would likely lead to me dying thanks to the afore-mentioned car.

Lets go do some reaping!

Sound like a gig I would have take up well except for feeling other pains so no thank. I rather take the "Continue on with life" although I would think that getting hit from a bus would of kill me (yeah I know people can survive a hit like that).

The OP was a little vague on what the job would actually entail, instead focusing on the superpowers- if its reaping like in Dead Like Me thne yeah sign me up, but if its like Final Destination, then no way.

Eternal pain for the powers of God. Yeah, I'd do it. "Increased mental capacity" would allow me to endure it. Also, I would become Death. Who could pass that up? Note: I have an ego that wants me to become someone important.
