No. I'm as bad as he is if I kill him. The moral high ground doesn't keep you alive, but it does keep you satisfied.

I've actually had something similar happen and can give an honest answer. I woke early one morning to the sounds of shattering glass. Instinct took over from here, as my heart started pounding and I fumbled for my dresser for the handgun I keep there. I opened my door and stuck my head out to look, and that's when I had the luckiest moment in my life. A bullet lodges in the doorframe a couple inches from my head. I aimed and quickly put two rounds into the intruder's chest. There was no thinking, no real "I'm gonna die I'd better shoot" or anything like that, just pure instinct and fear.

I called 911, and by the time the paramedics arrived, the man was gone. There's no duty to retreat clause here in NC, so I only had to answer some questions from the police before I was free to go. Still haunted by that night sometimes. I'd advise to retreat or disarm the person if possible, because once you take someone's life, it stays with you forever. Even if it was the "right" thing to do.

Ahem...how, exactly, does it keep you satisfied if you're dead?

I'd press X not to die... but seriously ... ANY human/animal in their right mind would take a life rather then let that person take theirs... anyone who wouldn't is a hippie...

That sounds awful...

It's interesting that you point out what you would be thinking. If somebody had shot at your head, you wouldn't exactly be thinking "Hmmm...should I kill him? It may be my only choice...but I could run, I suppose."

Actually, that's quite wrong. You're supposed to get "clear" of thetans to be truly satisfied and that's the whole point with... ...oh, I see what you did there...

Hail Xenu anyway, no matter what Tom says. I'm not being "glib."

I would kill him even if he wasn't directly threatening my life, but was just there to steal stuff.
That's disgusting.
Though I'm never sure if you're making a joke or being serious.

Nobody comes into my house, wakes me up, just because he's pissed. I'd kill without a second though if he woke me up =3

But in all honesty, yes.

I have no conscience towards killing.

Yeah. Hell there are a lot of circumstance where i'd kill someone willingly (willingly, not happily).

Mind you i say that now, but until i'm actually put into such a circumstance i don't know.

If someone brandishes a deadly weapon at me and threatens to kill me, I will attack them with everything I have the instant it becomes a viable option. Will I kill him? That depends on how the fight goes. If we're fighting over the gun, I would be willing to shoot him given the chance, or if we're wrestling and I collapse his windpipe; things like that I would do. I wouldn't subdue him then just shoot him though.

Anyone that threatens me and it's not blatantly obvious as a joke will be met with a roughly equivalent reaction.

I'm serious. He made the choice to benefit by taking from others, so I in turn will take from him his life.
All actions have consequences.
Yeah, but there's such a thing as commensurability.
Breaking and entering plus theft does not warrant murder.

I'd go for a knife disarm in that situation. Dude's not gonna aim that thing too well once he loses a few fingers.

But yeah, I'd kill him if I really had to. If somebody's got to die either way, it's not going to be me.

edit: also, just realized how crazy it would be to try a knife disarm on a guy with a gun. Maybe if I snuck up behind him...

Someone breaks into my home, where I live and steals the things I work my ass off for, and you expect me to...
What?
Call the police?
Those incompetent fucks couldn't catch a serial killer if he just slaughtered a bus load of children right in front of them.

Quietly accept it?
The hell with that. That is unacceptable.
Killing them would be a good deed anyway.
If someone has to resort to stealing from me, they are clearly not doing society any good.
Woah, I seem to have struck a nerve.

Calling the police is an option, yeah. And then telling the insurance company so you get your money back.

Nobody would want you to just accept it.
But even if you were to interfere with him, there are options inbetween doing nothing and outright trying to murder him. You know, knock him out, detain him until the police arrive, tackle him so he loses his swag...
Whatever.
Plenty of options.

It's weird how you seem to think in total absolutes with no possible middleground whatsoever.
