My thoughts exactly, I would not kill Hitler. No matter how bad WWII was, the world might be in a worse place without it.Talshere said:To kill a figure of such historic importance could forever cripple us in ways we cannot imagine. Now the USA not constantly trying to relive its only true major military victory would probably be a good thing but god look at all the things round the word we attribute to the war. The fact the cold war never went nuclear is a testament to Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The current EU might never have become possible. NATO might never have been formed. The cold war might never have happened.
Yes by removing Hitler before the second world war ever kicked off could have saved millions, prevented the holocaust, but, what would have happened if we had never learnt those lessons when we did? What could we have done without the ability to look back on what happened?
Id much rather have the history we know, no matter how dark it might be, than risk provoking something far far worse.

This, I'd rather let history run it's course than risk something far worse.Skullkid4187 said:No, it needed to happen. History can and should not be changed.
Exactly what I thought when I read this thread. Without Hitler, perhaps the National Socialist Party wouldn't have gained momentum. Germany may have kept collapsing under economic pressure, turning it into a third world nation. The Soviets might have picked apart at the pieces and slowly seized control, and then the Allies may have had to have a war against the Communists. Of course, I'd assume that would take longer than Hitler's blitzkrieg, so that could mean nuclear world war.Talshere said:Id much rather have the history we know, no matter how dark it might be, than risk provoking something far far worse.
No. And this. Also, we have all those laws for crimes against humanity, laws against discrimination and so on, due to WWII. It was a terrible price to pay to get them, but we are now safe (for a long long time at least) from that happening any time in near future. If we prevent the WWII from occurring in the forties, it would have happened sometime later. Maybe even now. The Second World War didn't happen only because of Hitler anyway; it was a time of great tensions and terrible discrimination, not only in Germany. The past should never be changed.Talshere said:To kill a figure of such historic importance could forever cripple us in ways we cannot imagine.
