I wouldn't do it. It's possible Hitler wasn't that important in the grand scheme of things. He was the man there at the time, but Germany was a bankrupt nation facing humiliating terms from WW1, which must have stung especially harshly for such an up to then proud nation. War could have easily broken out again, and the man in charge of Germany instead of Hitler might have been a much more intelligent man. No, the devil you know is better than the one you don't.

I wouldn't take the chance of accidentally fucking up the history even more. Maybe WW2 and the Holocaust were steps in a process that helped mankind avert an even greater catastrophe. Or I could create a paradox in which by killing Hitler I cause myself to not exist, so thus I can't kill Hitler which means I do exist which means I kill him, thus canceling my existence and making it so I can't kill him, which means he lives and I live, at which point I can kill him...

And even if I could avoid the above-mentioned cluster-fucks of paradoxes, I would rather just put him on a different path rather than kill him. Encourage him to get into that art school he wanted to go to perhaps? Maybe he'd just become a decent if somewhat anti-semitic artist. Plus there is a chance that some other demagogue would have risen to power instead who might have been even more horrible (or worse, more competent).

I believe that our timeline shouldn't be messed with, things CAN get worse than they are...

Two words: Time Paradox.
Yeah, what Hitler did and everything else that came after that was atrocious but I would not do it. It would fuck up everything. EVERYTHING. Our world as we know it would be something completely different.

Who knows... maybe the future after that would be WORSE.
[sup]Plus. Stalin was just as bad... if not worse.[/sup]

The Soviet union would be the biggest, baddest ************ of the era... that equals some crazy shit going down.

I would wait until Hitler got his "ideals" and then smack him a couple times until he "forgot" his ideals and didn't run for office at all.

If anything I'd sack the ruling board of the Austrian Art School. Even if he went on to lead the National Socialist Party, he'd be tainted by the hippies.

No, the implications of my event would forever change the timeline of man in unforeseen ways. I certainly do not have to right to perform such an action.

This link accurately sums up my feelings on the whole kill baby Hitler thing. Since there are far too many variables at work and could just as easily backfire up on you.

Only if my method of killing could be to consume him whole in front of a room full of people, only for me to vanish back into the future as soon as he was completely in my body. If I'm going to fuck with history, I'm gonna fuck with it somethin' fierce.

To kill a figure of such historic importance could forever cripple us in ways we cannot imagine. Now the USA not constantly trying to relive its only true major military victory would probably be a good thing but god look at all the things round the word we attribute to the war. The fact the cold war never went nuclear is a testament to Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The current EU might never have become possible. NATO might never have been formed. The cold war might never have happened.

Yes by removing Hitler before the second world war ever kicked off could have saved millions, prevented the holocaust, but, what would have happened if we had never learnt those lessons when we did? What could we have done without the ability to look back on what happened?

Id much rather have the history we know, no matter how dark it might be, than risk provoking something far far worse.
I was actually thinking of this situation today after seeing another thread and thought the exact same thing. Imagine if the nuclear weaponry was perfected before Hitler came to power, we could've had a nuclear holocaust on our hands that would be far, FAR worse than WW2. As terrible as the war was, it gave us a very strong historical lesson, I'm not sure I'd trade that off for an uncertain future (or even the present).

If you go back in time and kill baby Hitler, some other asshole will rise to power instead of him and do pretty much the same thing.

I would go back and kill Uwe Boll before he decided that he needed to turn video games into atrocious movies. Either way a bad German man dies.
Give this man a stout mug of Jagermeister.

I'm not sure.

I only exist because of the events of the world that transpired. It's unknowable whether the existence of hitler's life could have possible negative implications for me.
