Given I've had little to no luck with the fairer sex, I'd think I'd go with the attractiveness, despite my chronic study problems - read: can't be arsed to study properly for years now yet somehow still the guy passes along in the system. Of course, I'd first like to know how much intelligence I'm trading for how much attractiveness, but still, the offer is much more tempting this way for me than the other way around..

oh and props to the OP for finding a good "this or that" topic..I haven't seen many bright ones of these around..

I'd trade most anything for some more self esteem - there's little point being attractive or "intelligent" without the self worth to back it up.
This is something everyone seems to be overlooking, though I'd replace self esteem with social skills. The poll seems to imply that this being a gamer/geek board we're all quite intelligent and above our fellow man but but get held back in life, either in love or career, for a lack of being attractive. But that just isn't the case.

Personally I'm a geek-jock, with very high marks in both looks and intelligence, but the social skills of a rock. Well I'm not that bad, it's not that I'm shy or awkward and can converse with people just fine, but I'm also introvert, have zero empathy, and can never remember faces or names, making it all but impossible to 'network'. I can socialize when necessary but I'm really not a social animal.

In comparison I have a brother who looks practically the same as me. Only has average intelligence but is a social butterfly. Academics that were easy for me were a struggle for him, yet at the end of the day the ability to network pushed him much farther ahead. Really it's all about who you know, and to know people looks and intelligence can help but take a back seat to social skills.

Tough question, the beautiful idiot probably has a happier life, "ignorance is bliss" and all that. However I think intelligence would lead to a more fulfilling life as well as a better chance of helping others. Either way, it doesn't matter since I'm already super smart and super hot :)

No, I wouldn't go for it. There's less drastic ways to make yourself more attractive, hence the aisles and aisles of beauty products you can find at any store. And besides that, I'm already very confident with my appearance

Since the world we live in has taken a turn where appearence is more important than intelligence i think i'd consider it.

Also, when you say "no way back". Does that mean that there's just no way to reverse the prosees to get back to the starting point or is there not even a way for us to read up on the stuff we lost?
Even in such a case i'd still be weighing my options...

BAD SELF-ESTEEM!(Hope the label helps)

I'm not some sort of preening douchebag, but I'd say I'm alright looking. I'm more of the "Win 'em over with your endearingly awkward nature" kind of guy.

But then again it depends, if I could sacrifice my knowledge of the complex sociopolitical subtext behind the play Two by Jim Cartwright for say, a better nose, I'd probably be more open to the idea. If, however, I had to sacrifice a fairly large chunk of my intelligence, I'd say no regardless of what the outcome appearance was like.

(I wouldn't mind sacrificing IQ, IQ isn't directly equal to general intelligence, IQ is mainly based around problem solving and memory, it wouldn't affect my ambitions as a writer very majorly)

Never in a million years. If I get any dumber I'll be unable to feed myself and use the bathroom. You can't tell me that's attractive. And I'd probably just get fat again anyway.

I'd say I'm around average in both departments and I'm happy with that, so no I would not trade anything.

Yeah. Where do I sign? I always wanted to be a smooth Ronald Coleman type of chap.

I like the presumption you can't be both nice looking and smart. I mean, in my case the presumption is correct. But still... :D

I was going to say "I'll keep intelligence thank you", but it occurred to me that stupid people are some of the happiest people I know. So this is kind of a hard question. The question basically comes down to this: Do you play in beautiful ignorant bliss or be smart and rather angry much of the time.

My answer: I don?t know, but I guess I?d keep the intelligence.

Ignorance is bliss, so I would be hot and happy? Sometimes over-thinking everything just makes life less enjoyability cause you don't know how to shut your brain off and relax. I would rather just swap it for a while and see how things go.

This is an interesting question.
Would I trade a life long hopeless depression where the only brief escape from the miserable monotony of existence is when I dream about savagely stabbing myself to death with a ballpoint pen, for the only currency that is universally valued by today's culture?

I would trade my intelligence for leprosy.

Did you ever see the episode of The Simpsons where Homer got the crayon taken out of his brain?

But you're asking if we want to be attractive as well as stupid.
So I'd basically be the toast of the town and too dumb to realize how shallow and pointless that is.

The 245 people that value intelligence are already attractive or stupid and they don't know what they're getting in to.

Can I not just trade 5% of my intelligence for a really good metabolism? I'd then be happy.

What is "dumber"? That's a little vague, no? I mean, do i just lose knowledge, i.e. forget stuff? Cause then I'm down with a little prettying up (I look pretty horrendous)

Or do you mean i lose my ability to reason and think analytically? To reason, and shit?
Cause if it's that....then no. Hell no!

Ecclesiastes 1:18

"For in much wisdom [is] much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow."

Make me stupid so I can be happy for a freakin' change. I don't care if I'm pretty or not.

I just might, my intelligence makes my life harder, i think too much on things, i can't fall asleep because i can't stop thinking, i think about things everyone around me tell me they don't care about, it has made me lazy cause i've never had to do a damn thing for school, just a slight decrease might make me able to interact with people of lower intelligence better......... then again i might lose my ability to analyze people to a certain point.

Depends, do I have a choice in %'s? Such as, only giving a dash of intelligence, for a dash of beauty? Such as the disappearance of some of my knowledge of useless facts. Can I adjust it?

Or is it a: WHAM beautiful!!
Then I end up on t.v. asking if I'm eating Chicken or Tuna, sort of thing?
