Convenientally enough, I got the update first when I turned on my xbox to try again.
I honestly don't hate it as much as I thought I would, but I'm not too keen of it either. I do like how neat my game and music library now look, though, as well as the new marketplace and new sound quality. Solid 7/10, say?

The Avatars look a little bit better, but the entire thing looks worse. It's really, really bright. Like, uncomfortable and distracting bright. And the old look flowed better than this blocky version. Oh, and the pinging noise is far more annoying.
Of course, none of it really matters, because they still have the big problem of not just starting on the "Play Game" option, which would be much better.

I'm annoyed by all of the downloading that comes with the updates. Otherwise I don't really care. Kinda like the new color-scheme and opening logo.

But it has worked after an hour and thirty minutes. sheesh.
It's alright, but it's a bit flat. I liked it when the boxes went off into the distance, right now it's making my eyes go funny. I'll get used to it though. Also, I miss the old start up noise, this one's too "soft".
so after all that palaver, my final verdict is "meh".
It gets a resounding: "meh". I just wanna play ME2 for the sixteenth time, leave me alone "Hurray Up and Get Gold for too much money!" Don't care, never cared. Nap time.
Well after an hour and a half the update has started and so far so much white, its actually physically hurting my eyes when I'm not wearing my glasses. Which is most of the day until I have to drive; looks like Microsoft wants me to wear them now too D;
Edit: Now that its done I can safely say, save for the annoyance trying to get the download, the incredibly white loading screen and start screen, I don't mind this update at all. I like the crisp look to it so after all the negatives, there is a small positive. Seems like raising a child, but quickly

I like the crispness of it, but I prefer the cascading windows to a single plane (seriously M$ is the ONLY company in the world moving from 3D to 2D, WTF) and the giant white panels hurt my eyes. I play on a giant TV dammit, and eyes are lazy (i.e. prefer darkness to light), so I have no idea why they would go with something so damned abrasive. Now I have to decide whether or not it's worth going temporarily blind just to see what my friends are up to.
As I've said elsewhere, it fits nicely with Microsoft moving backwards this year. They copied the 4 year old technology that is the Eye-toy, it only makes sense for them to make the dashboard more like the XMB as well. Needless to say I prefer the NXE.

I like it, but I prefere the old one.

But, Everything is too bright, it hurts my eyes. I prefered the grey colour scheme to the white one.
Also everything is square, it feels like windows 95 again.
[Edit] if people are having trouble getting the update to start, check your network connection. It will direct you to a working version of the update screen.

Okay, got it now. Worked first try after my previous moaning in this topic, guess the ten minute break was all it needed. It locked up for a few minutes when I hit 'accept' on the new Terms Of Use thing, but eh. Then of course the last.fm thing took several attempts to update... bah.
I like it. Nothing new added, nothing good removed, nice clean design and fresh colours... yup, I'm going with it. Not that we have a choice, but I'd go with it if we did.

Just realized what all those noises when you move around reminded me of, it's a long cardboard tube being banged.
I can't connect to live so I still have the old one...well, new one...but not the newest. I've heard it's pretty much the same.
The white seems a little... stark, I guess. And I was fond of the cartoony look to the previous avatars.
Most of my problems with it will just be a case of getting used to the new system, I guess.
So I don't dislike it (apart from the blinding white colour), I just don't like it, either. Is there a 'meh' option on the poll?
