I would have to say Lobo from DC. He's not yout typical hero, but he sure kicks ass. He has killed Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, Robin, given Superman a beatdown, broke Batman's leg, stolen The Mask and then destroyed an entire galaxy, died and gone to both heaven and hell and been banned from both.

deadpool! mainly because op top of being funny he isn't being an crybaby about it. thats the one thing i always hated about wolverine and several other heroes ''ow boohoo they've made me a demi-god'' how about instead off taking revenge you send them a thank you note?

though without superpowers the punisher is awesome aswell.

Deadpool. Just, Deadpool. He is the most brilliant anti-hero ever.

If I have to pick a second, then it's a tie between Dr. McNinja and Iron Man (I choose to exclude civil war from canon because of how poorly they write Iron Man in it.)

the good doctor and Deadpool are in there because of their badass quips and their brilliant fights, Iron Man because his only power is that he's a genius who doesn't solve problems through brute force.

Batman's okay, but he's a little... off for my liking

By our definitions, yes he is a mutant. But in universe they call normal people who get powers "mutates".

My top 3 favourite superheroes are Batman, Spider-Man, and Wolverine.
But if I had to pick just one, I'd definitely be Spider-Man. He's consistently funny, he has an awesome and unique fighting style, and he's one of the most relateable and down to earth superhero characters.

This is a really difficult one as I can't think of any... Oh yeah! Beast! Smart, funny and the agility to go with the blue furry personality. What's there not to like?

Iron Man isn't a Super Hero. He's a vigilante who joined The Avengers. He has no powers.
Same goes with Batman. Excepting the Avengers thing.

Superman isn't a Super Hero. He's god. The only thing he can't do is anything he hasn't tried yet.

Wolverine isn't a Super Hero. He's a mutant, and an X-man. What he does doesn't follow the archetype of how super hero's function.

Polls for these are terrible, it's always too limiting.

As far as the people who do follow the archetype? Captain America.....Or Thor.
You do realise your contradicting yourself by saying Superman isn't a superhero but a God and that Thor isn't a God but a superhero?

Also technically Captain America is a mutant by definition, the only difference being his mutation was injected into him while Wolverines was born with his mutation.
cap (and the ff and spidey and more) who were given superpowers are not mutants their mutates (seriously there is a diffrance) just droping some trivia...
for example in "age of X" a parallel world where the x men never existed mutants are hunted but mutates are somwhere on the line spidey is imprisoned (in a tie in, world of age of X) but hulk and cap are sent to take down fortress X by the millitary also the FF are killed (if im not forgeting) exept inisable girl who is sent with cap and hulk...

my superhero of choice would have to be

"The Flaming Carrot"

because how more hardcore can you be when you are an anthropomorphized combustible vegetable wearing flippers

The Hulk. I was never a big fan of his until I read Planet Hulk & World War Hulk. It was just so nice to see Tony Stark get the shit beaten out of him.

I don't so much love Batman as I love the world and its villains.

Batman is just an awesome looking avatar for me to experience it all.

Agreed, he's awesome. You'd be fucking messed up if he was your dad though. One of the few comics I have showed me that. It was one of the Deadpool Max ones.

(The Authority in general, in fact. Why stop at saving the world when you can improve it?)

Batman, first off he has taken on superman (and won) so he can, with a chance to prepare, be considered the best superhero. But the main reason I love him is because all of his best comics are so goddamn psychological, Arkham Asylum is like an acid trip through the world of nightmares. And finally, the fucking Joker. Most arch enemies just try to kill the protagonist, but not Mr J, he..... eh, read the comics, he's far too complex to explain.
And to all the Captain America fans, here's your justification:

It's strange; I am a much greater fan of Marvel over DC, as they are always the heroes that interest me, and although I haven't read many comics from either series, I have soaked in a lot of Marvel lore over the years. And yet, Batman is forever my favourite hero, of whom I know more about than any other hero, despite knowing nothing of the DC universe beyond Gotham City. Anyone else have something similar?
And people, stop being so damned pedantic about the definition of a 'super hero'. Most people use the term to imply comic-related heroes, and the subject of the thread becomes that much more obvious to someone skimming over the thread titles. Just answer the question, and move on.

The one true...

And also Spider-Man, I guess. Not the current (Amazing and Ultimate) Spider-Men, though.

EDIT:

And if I can go with someone who isn't an American comic book character, I guess I'll throw in Kamen Rider OOO:

He had an amazing and touching story, and is the Kamen Rider I can relate to the most.

Kitty Pryde- Shadowcat.

Trained by Wolverine, she is one of the more competent hand to hand combatants on the team, and is all but unkillable. (Well, nowadays. Back when good female characters were a novelty, she sort of jumped between useful and damsel, but now she's pretty good)

Plus she gave her life to phase a planet sized missile through the Earth itself.
