Tekken, Soul Calibur or Mortal Kombat. (New MK is looking pretty nice) Though i have to say that Soul Calibur has some aspects that have made it better from back then to now i can't accept the later Tekken games - they're absolute rubbish from whatever came after 3 (which isn't necessarily 4)
I'd Say Tekken... But then Tekken 6 came out.
Then I'd say Soul Calibur... But then Soul Calibur IV came out.
So I'd say Mortal Kombat... But then Mortal Kombat vs DC came out.
And I never played Dead Or Alive, I only played Bloody Roar and Virtua Fighter on a demo, and I haven't played Street Fighter since Street Fighter 2 (the 'normal' one).
So hey, I guess I'll just stick with my first choice and select Tekken.

Calibur - not that it has the best AI, controls or balance; I just LOVE extending whip-swords. It's the same reason I enjoyed 'Le Pacte des Loups' and continue to watch Bleach.

If there was a larger VF playing population, I would totally be onboard with it. But as of right now, Tekken is pretty much dominating the 3D fighter market, and SF4 is dominating the 2D fighter market. (with GG and BlazBlu making storng showings)Bocaj2000 said:
The VS. games I think is just too divergent to really be categorized by it's own.
CVS and CVS2 were more like Capcom games with some KOF stuff thrown in.
SVC Chaos is basically a KOF game with some SF characters thrown in.
MVC series is a whole different kind of fighting game all together.
I'm not even sure what Tekken vs. SF is going to look like in the end of development.
I'm continuously surprised when people say that Smash is a simple game. I mean, sure, from the standpoint of just picking up the controls, and being able to do stuff, Smash is pretty simple. But when you factor in things like the wavedashing for competitive play, Smash is actually incredibly hard to learn.
Brawl and Melee both have air dodge and air throwing too, which adds even MORE layers of learning required. So I'm not sure if I would say that Smash is necessarily an easier game to play competitively.

I'll will have to agree with you about that ring out thing, i've lost many a matches from a cheap kick or throw (especially Kilk and The Apprentice. The clothing stats and weapon stats weren't too bad... but you normally have to make your characters look like douche bags before the stats are really high.
