Poll: Your fighting game?

No Super Smash Brothers?

How is that, exactly?

Because all the others are generally one to one fights, pitting what could more or less be considered human combatants against each other. And there generally aren't any power ups falling into the field.

Fair enough. I've always considered a fighting game, but I've never played any of the ones in the poll.

I'd consider Super Smash Brothers to be a Fighting game but with a subgenre I like to call 'Brawler'. Even though it doesn't look like a traditional fighting game, it still feels like it and you can still punch, kick and throw your opponent.

To bad there came a SSB clone with the Turtles on the Wii. As a Turtle/SSB fan I had to own it. As a Turtles/SSB fan I was dissapointed.

I don't think other fighting games should not be included just because they don't 'look like it'.

While I would've liked to vote for Soul Cal or Bloody Roar (I played the hell out of Bloody Roar: Primal Fury and Soul Calibur II back on the GameCube) my heart will always belong to Street Fighter. Not just because playing Street Fighter 2 at my cousin's house is one of my earliest memories, or for all the fun I've had playing subsequent games since, but because I'm also a huge fan of all the various Street Fighter comics and manga and anime series/ovas.

I've played shitloads of Tekken Tag/4 with a friend of mine. Goodtimes.

Also Street fighter Alpha 3 and SSF4.

Also Soul Edge and Soul Calibur.

At the time though I have most fun when I play Naruto Ultimate Ninja storm. I played a lot of the naruto games on PS2 too and the combat is just sooooo fast and fluid. I LOVE it.

See, I'm a gamer. I love first person beat-crap-out-of game(s) like, say, Mirror's Edge.
I really love FPSs[footnote]I'm an American male, what the fuck do you think my favorite genre is, eh?[/footnote], and I love RPGs.
I hate JRPGs, I really like racing games.
But I never really liked fighting games.
The only[footnote]Questionable[/footnote] fighting games I ever liked were the Smash Bros. series, and Dungeon Fighter Online; and that's only because one of the characters was a badass with guns, in a red trench coat.
Which is probably why GTA IV is my favorite game of all time, it combines my three favorite games: I actually can't think of a third person shooter that I actually LIKED, so I'll just put an example of a third person shooter off the top of my head: Uncharted, because of all of the shooting. Need For Speed, because of the driving that needs done, and the actual racing option in multiplayer, and with Brucie. And Bethesda RPGs, because I get to play as a[footnote]Serbian[/footnote][footnote]He was Serbian, right? Fuck, I don't remember. 'least I didn't say he was Russian, I know that's wrong.[/footnote] dick!

Besides, you can punch people in the game...And kick them. And shove them to the floor. And slit that ***** up. And beat that NOoSE agent up with a baseball bat. And throw them out of their car, and stand on them laughing as they are unable to get back up.

Man, most Nikos are pricks.

I've played the Edge of Soul since it was on the PS1, and I still have the theme song specifically written for the game (as well as Cervantes' Bravely Folk Song) on my Ipod.

Soul Cal is tops for me, for now.

I'm pretty pissed Guilty Gear's not there, purely for it's soul crushing difficulty, but out of those I'd have to agree with you. i love the soul caibur franchise.

Your lack of Guilty Gear disturbs me. That is the best fighting game series hands down, it's essentially Street Fighter on crack and cranked up to 11. SO much depth, such amazing combat, kick ass characters and music, it's a massive bundle of AWESOME.

It trumps every other 2D fighter in my opinion.

Hehe Sorry, never much of a 2d fighter fan... (weep) because i suck at them. i need that 3rd dimension to side step attacks and counter.
