I don't specifically go good or evil, I simply do what I'd do in the given situation. It usually manifests as "good", but with the occasional badguy thing.

I do the most beneficial; recently in Starcraft 2, though I saved the doc and her posse from the infection, when the protross demanded to erase those who were still infected, I decided to be friendly with the protoss and killed everyone myself. Saving myself from fighting the Protoss was the obvious choice for me.

In fallout 3, I remember to aid the ghoul to kill the bigots, but when I got the keys, I went to the fort myself, and got the T-51b for me.

I also did saved all the little sisters in Bioshock amd Bioshock 2; not because of the moral choice, just because it gives the best rewards if you can hold on your upgrades a bit longer.

Good, but then if I play a second time, I'm the ponciest ponce that ever ponced past a poncing parlour.

I started as whichever benefited me the most, and mostly I stick to that, except I tend to lean a bit more towards being an evil dick.

My moral choices normally come down to 'Chaotic Good' really. I don't go into games with a specific mindset but it normally does come out as morally good things, although the moral choices I make don't always natural come down on the side of 'legal'.

good, im not usually all the way good, as i reflect my own personal actions, in which sometimes i do things that are "bad" (although i think they are for the greater good), so overall im 3/4 good and 1/4 neutral

I find myself turning out as a neutral character in Mass Effect, so it depends on the situation.

Third Time I Min/Max meaning I pick what is most useful to me, but I stay in a mindset like good or evil

I have a real problem with being evil. Of the 5 times I played through Mass Effect I was always a good character even when I tried to be bad.

Interesting thread, I very much look forward to reading what everyone thinks.

As for me, I make choices in games as I would in real life, which means I follow a "good" path. If I like the game enough, on a second or third run through I'll try a renegade or neutral path, but I find it incredibly hard to force myself to make some of those choices.

I usually, if not always, go for the goody-little-two-shoe mode, always on the first play through, even reload past saves if I did something evil by accident (other then hitting NPCs.... I can't avoid all of them, maybe if they would stop running in the crossfire, but NooOOOOOOooooo). On my second play through I'll try for the evil way around, but I rarely finish it, it's just... so easier to do most of the time. I never even finished Fable (the first one) as evil, the game seems to lose a lot of interest when I'm doing so.

That's what I usually went for. Then I realised that there was little source of money after I'd killed so many people. Being good means I have a good source of money for longer.

I usually try all possibilities; in LOTR Conquest I fight for good because there's just an infinite stream of orc to pwn. And I feel guilty about killing Gondorians...

Generally I choose the alignment that lets me do the most.

Me too! Although eventually I managed to go full renegade, and the scarring effect and red eyes in ME2 really make it worth while. Shepard's skin looks like it's peeling apart to reveal the red renegade inside. So much fun! I remember when spoiler images of the scarring effect first came out and everyone freaked about what happened to Shepard. Do you think you'll try another renegade run through?

Good, no contest. I wish there were more games that made Good the more challenging path. I play Good because I want to be the hero. To me, being the Hero means to protect my comrades and the innocent, to overthrow tyrants or slavers, or to encourage growth and prosperity if the country's politics are suited to health and goodwill of their fellow countrymen.

Evil 'heroes' protect their comrades as well, but they abuse the innocent. They typically overthrow tyrants so that they can become the next one. They encourage growth and prosperity only if it profits themselves the most.

I'm ok with playing Evil, but abusing the innocent is really hard for me. Hell, some games have you sadistically torture innocents, and that's usually where I draw the line. (Let me point out a difference between instant gratification GTA killing sprees and drawn out plots of torture. Chaos can be fun every now and then, planned torture isn't to me. Really, every time I go an a rampage in GTA is just to get the attention of the police. I perfer targets that fight back.)

But all and all, they are both usually healthy expressions if kept in context. I think Steven King said that the human mind has sewer gators that need to be fed occasionally.

I go for heroic obsessive compulsive kleptomaniac. If it isn't bolted down and it has value then it's rightly mine. Though I tend to not kill any character that doesn't actively try to attack or annoy me. That's why I disliked little lamplight.
