Considering I'd like to be in an interracial relationship...

Plus, genetical diversity is really the best for humanity as a whole.
(less marrying one's cousines)

Race is primitive superstition and I'll have no part in it.

That said, people should strive to reproduce with people who are genetically dissimilar from themselves. It's better for their offspring and better for the species.

This is where subconscious racism rears its ugly head with me.

I was raised in a lily-white town (as in, we had one black-white mixed-race family and a few Chinese folks who mainly ran restaurants. According to the Census Bureau via Wikipedia:

"96.94% White, 0.45% Black or African American, 0.08% Native American, 1.43% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 0.90% from two or more races." (2000 census)

And my high school was a hotbed of racism thanks to forced busing (or "school integration", if you prefer.) I was a member of a hate group myself (I got better.)

When you've got that drilled into your head from childhood that interracial relationships are wrong or unnatural or a good excuse to vent some teenage-boy frustration and beat the shit out of a black kid without the principal giving two shits (and I'm from the Northeast!)...

Well, it's gonna lead to certain visceral reactions as an adult. And I just can't get past that drilled-in-childhood revulsion at the sight of an interracial couple (and indeed, it's black guy-white girl that triggers that response in me---if I see a black guy with an Asian or an Asian with a white or any other combination, it doesn't register as unusual with me.)

I'm sorry, I really am. I try very hard to move past that. But if any black people (I won't say "African-Americans" because I'm sure an African in the UK or a Jamaican or...you get the idea...reading this would take offense) want to hate me for that, I honestly don't blame you. And if you've any advice for becoming more accepting, I'm open to it.
As long as you don't try to prevent such relationships from occurring, then I don't thin kit's a problem. I feel the exact same way when I see two gay men displaying affection for each other; it just seems unnatural to me. But I know that it's none of my business what they do and I have no moral grounds on which to judge them, and I can't force them to adhere to what I perceive to be natural.
OP: As a person who has been dating almost exclusively out of my race, I'm fairly obviously in support of them. Genetically, there's more difference between people of the same ethnicity than between people of different ethnicities, surprisingly enough. So, the way I see it, we're all humans, and since halfy babies are fucking beautiful, they're something to be encouraged.

Ha! Now I get a change to say this...
Grhmm...

Whats the difference between man from north and man from south?

Honestly, Human, no matter what your bloodline or where he/she/it is from is still the same specie than any other of us. If they would be genetically a different species it could be proven, and then it would be wrong. But because we are all the same race why couldn't we date each other, open up the Gene-bank and make HUMAN RACE better.

I live on an area with a high concentration of Asians and Subcontinentals. This has caused me not to care about interracial couples. If I opposed them I would get even less female attention than I already do.

I'm a white Australian btw.

I'm all for certain interracial marriages, but some of them just freak me out. I personally can't see a Russian with an Asian or an Asian with a black person. It's not that I'm racist, it's just that it kinda grosses me out...
Russians are from Asia.
Nnnno, they're not. From the borders of Ukraine, Poland, etc. to about the Ural Mountain range is considered European, and contains most of the ethnic Russians and habitable terrain. Fun facts!

Here's my two cents:

I'm black, and so far, none of my previous relationships have been with a lady of the same race as I (this being total coincidence, and not of my design.) The thing is... I never really thought that was a big deal until I noticed how often people brought it up. I've grown up around racism, and I don't think people's reactions were what you'd call "racist," but it just seemed like people would treat us differently at times, or make little comments. This struck me as odd because, as I said, I never really thought it was that big of a deal.

Then again, I grew up within driving distance of the international headquarters of the KKK, so I think it was a regional thing. @_@

Are you sure about that? How is that possible? I agree with your mixed race people comment but. I might even go so far to say that half white half asian girls are my favourite 'breed' (I can't think of a way to say that without it seeming like I am refering to women as farm stock).

My younger sister is currently in a relationship with a guy called "Sai Kranthy" (may have mis spelled his name) who comes from a small part of India.

I have no problems with these sorts of relationships between people, why would anyone else?

I thought this was a given...

Interracial relationships are fine. I don't give a flying shit who other people bang.

Hell, I'm even fine with interspecies relationships, so long as neither party is in pain.

Uhhh... I really don't see how anyone could be offended by them.

That's like taking offence to a BLT because it mixes bacon and tomatoes.
I would just like to say that I do disagree with the idea of putting bacon with tomatoes. Tomatoes are fine by themselves or in salads, but sandwiches, really?

Who people date is pretty much the same thing as what they do behind closed doors; no one's business but their own.

Don't seewhy anyone would be against them without being a massive douche or a racist. I'm in one, so I guess i support them, in that sense.

I think it's great. If you love someone, it doesn't matter if they're black, white, purple, green, yellow, short, fat, a banana, a piece of cheese, whatever.
The media could do more to put interracial couples in a positive light with more couples like that in TV shows.

If I was to take sides, I support it - I don't really care who dates who.

Everyone has their personal preferences, and ideas on beauty, so an interracial relationship isn't everyone's cup of tea. I'm not surprised that some people just aren't attracted to certain races, just as long as it isn't because they have an irrational hate for the race.

I don't care about it myself, but I can see how it can be an issue with other people, both with some communities traditionally disproving of interracial relationships, and also with some people being pro or even forced into interracial relationships.

In the UK there are too many "Honour" Killings among the South East Asian community in which the male family members will kill a daughter if she dates outside her ethnic group.

Conversely, I read an article on the BBC that a lot of educated, aspiring and professional black women in America are practically forced to date outside their race to find a like minded man with similar goals and aspirations, as most black males their age are thugs and gangsters with no aspirations and a criminal record and therefore aren't desirable partner material.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11434399
Interestingly, the article states that only 4.5% of black women date outside their race, compared to 14% of males, so it seems that a lot of them are destined to remain single.

Whilst I don't have any problems with the concept of interracial relationships myself, I think it's naive to try to pretend it's not an issue and to feign ignorance at other people's objections to it.

I don't really care.

More than the issue of race, I think the issue of very different cultural backgrounds matters, and can make the relationship difficult, but it's no reason to oppose it.

Couldn't care either way... I'm currently flirting with a Maori girl at work... I don't even really see the skin colour to be honest...
