I find it's both an entertaining art form (either for erotism or sheer laughs), as well as a fascinating industry. I've often contemplated the idea of becoming a director for porn (don't have the body of a porn star, so I'd rather if I did anything sexually on camera, it'd be amateur and with a girlfriend/wife) and have even written some scripts and concepts for various porn scenarios. Though I do find today's porn is getting just too "American", i.e., big tits, big ass, and big cocks, all the while having to have a reason for violence in these scenario's. Don't get me wrong, I like America, though I prefer it in my music (Slayer and Dr Dre particularly), and I would much prefer to see porn like it was back in the 70's, 80's, and 90's, though less hairy. I agree ...that I do think that the female portion of the porn industry is put into a demeaning light, usually being dominated or given a reason to be forced into a sexual relation with someone (i.e. doing the lawn boy out of frustration that their husband doesn't have time for them, crashed their car into someone's property and use sex to pay for the damages and not to get insurance brought into things). I can agree that when the most famous porn star is an old hairy fat jewish man for the male end of things that women are given an unfair deal. I'd personally like to see more men that look like your average guy, not John Holmes or Lexington Steele. Most men are about 5-6 inches long, not 9-12 inches; some may have an aggression towards the industry only using those 9-12 rather than the average. For that sort of thing, you'd have to go for amateur porn which is actual hard to find amongst all the professionally made porn.
As for the depiction of women, again, I'd find it more interesting if there was more average looking women to be found. Yes, some women have more predominant features than others but there might be more of a market for people if you had a women who wasn't a plastic barbie doll and who looked more like one of the women in the video. Plus, I'd rather not see a women pornstar who's the same body type as an ideal teenager, ie small and skinny, a women with curves I find to be more appealling and real. Also, I'd find it more appealing if it was like an old school porno, not the hairiness or the greasy porno music, but the way that they'd build up to it. I saw a porno once that started off with a couple out for an evening to come home and remisce about it and eventually decide to end the night in bed with each other. Since then, it's gotten more misogynistic and violent, never really romantic or appealling if you're not one for violent sex (most of the main pornsites are more into this sort of thing I find now). Why some one hasn't done a romantic comedy porno in the last 10 years is beyond me (then again, most porno's are laughable, whether it's intentional or not).
Finally, for believability, that's where most of the humor comes in for me, it's hearing those horribly done lines that always leave me unaroused as I'm too busy laughing. They're never really properly executed nor do they make me interested in the story that's going on (Pump Fiction has one of the worst discussions between two actors ever), that is if there is a story. Again, I have to bring it down to amateur porn, it's the best kind because everything about it is real and leaves a feeling of satisfaction that two people (more if the scenario calls for it) have had a good time and enjoyed bringing their sex lives onto film. Porn is porn though, and most guys aren't going to care what's in it unless it's something that can beat off to. I happen to be one of the few that care.
