I personally think the ad could have been a bit better, but considering that Valve is probably marketing the game to people who don't know what Portal (and/or Half-Life 2) is, I think they did gloriously well. Just one more month before it's in the player's hands...

Just 1 Month...Oh god just one Month...

Valve have a fetish for delaying games, we've been waiting for Ep 3 for ages, and when I heard this got delayed I was next to smashing my Laptop.

Yeah, Valve hit that nail right on the head with this one. Great ad, showcases EXACTLY what needs to be showcased and... it's just good. Valve is pretty damn good at making videos with a set goal, and this is no exception.

Being a known Valve fanboy, I loved the commerical. Having someone who is not so gamer-centric, as in my father. He thought it looked interesting, but didn't understand what the plot of the game actually was. Might do Valve some good to have future ads supply some plot details for the general audience.

Valve brought SCIENCE!

Only one more month... only one more month... only one more month...
Until it gets delayed again.

But that ad was superb, it makes me really, really look forward to it!
In a recent Interview, Valve confirmed that the game is finished and that they've send it to Microsoft and Sony to give the OK for the game. So it won't get delayed again...I hope.

OT:They did a great job with the ad. It shows everything it should show in a 30 second video.

sigh* I need a better pc to run this game.
Damn it why must technology eventually become obsolete!?
I like this ad, I'm glad valve opted to go it alone instead of hiring some idiotic marketing campaign , spared us all a repeat to the abomination that was the "your-mom-is-going-to-hate-this-game' campaign.
way to go valve!

Fun with science? Sounds like an educational game, parents will be so disappointed.

Valve just had to make this didn't they?! Now I am forced to buy this just because of that ad.

OT: Can't wait. Loved the first one and I really want to know what happens to Chell and Glados.

Wait, haven't Valve said before that they don't like to spend money on things such as TV advertisements because they prefer to market through word-of-mouth and having players recommend their games?
They probably want to hit up some of the not-necessarily-gamer market since a good chunk of gamers have played the first Portal, are already buying the 2nd with or without ads showcasing it, and will probably tell other gamers on the fence to do the same because the first was so awesome.

So there is word-of-mouth marketing still going on obviously, but they're probably thinking that there's a good chance that it stays mostly among gamers already invested in the purchase. And so, TV spots.

Was anybody else surprised that it was rated E 10+? I mean, I don't remember the first having any swears, but I was expecting a T rating for what ever reason. Valve has only really made M games, which is one reason I was so flabbergasted.

I look forward to having fun with science.

Just think, that add is worth 25 million and they made it themselves.

Whichever exec decided to lose the ad companies on this one deserves a new coffee-mug.

That's a cute little ad. :3

Still haven't decided if I want Portal 2 or not though.

Valaves decision to go with their own marketing was a good one. They can give they gamers waht tehy want, because they themselves are gamers.
This was Valve's triumph.
I'm making a note here 'HUGE SUCCESS'
For the good of all of us-oh you get the idea.
