Wait, haven't Valve said before that they don't like to spend money on things such as TV advertisements because they prefer to market through word-of-mouth and having players recommend their games?
Well in a recent article though they said they wanted to make an ad for portal 2 but they just didn't want to deal with the useless ad agencies.

I think I broke something, I played the ad once and for some reason it just keeps repeating in the background. The funny thing is I don't even mind, too much awesome to contain :O

Can't wait!

This is a delightful, if somewhat underwhelming, ad. It's nice that VALVe knows what they're doing with the game and how to market it, though I find it odd how they're focusing on the 2-player co-op mainly.
I think that the cutesy-wutesy bots are more John-Q-Public-friendly and easier to tell in 30 seconds than Chell's entire back story.
As much as I'm sure all gamers will freak out at Chell waking up out of some kind of stasus pod in the ad,
Atlas and P-body are easier to put out as a fresh idea and a new introduction to the world of Aperture Science.

Watched the ad, was wondering what Valve would come up with..

I think they nailed it :D
Indeed mr.Snowman it is a good commercial ;)

Now which one is which? I like the small round one :3
That would be Atlas.
Really? I was not prepared for that...

The logic, it has all been reversed now...
Not really, due to the Greek myth, which has the Titan, Atlas, bearing the earth on his shoulders. You know, that big spherical thing? =L
Not wanting to be pedantic, but Atlas held up the sky according to Greek legend :p
Makes sense that he's the round one though. Atlas was a right fat git.

Meh. Also thought P-body was the round one. Atlas suits the taller one better in my opinion. Nevertheless, this is all just arguing semantics. I just want to play the freakin' game. I've already chosen my companion for the upcoming co-operative portal testing intiative. Have you? :D

That made me all giddy like a retarded Twilight fangirl~
But, like all the good commercials, it probably won't air here (or just very sparsely).

No, what they wanted was to be themselfs the ones to make the add.
This was thought up by Valve and not some add company

Yes, I know that, but he is depicted as holding up the earth, and I couldn't be arsed to explain it =P

I love being Greek.

It is amazing when you consider that Portal was just going to be an experiment with portals in games.

I think we all know who really made Portal much more than it was conceived to be...

Fun? You're going to try to kill me again! Science damn you, time child Glados! :p

I think this is a decent ad. The robots look like they're having fun playing with the portals at the start, and that could make the viewer want to know about them too.

It could have easily been worse, right EA and Sony?
I include Sony because of crap like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJIWVIZhEZw All you said about Killzone 3 is that enemies try to kill you, great job! This commercial is only interesting to people who already know what Killzone 3 is, and even then the joke in this one isn't funny. And still with that "It only does everything" bullshit? Sony, PLEASE, get a new slogan already. Every time I see this one, it's a graze to the nuts [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGu_jtGQ8NI&t=4m05s]. And that's not cool Sony!

It's good, but I liked the E3 trailer sooo much better!! I guess that's too long though.
