I have been watching the previews and trailers for the movies The Watchmen and Push. Now correct me if I am wrong but are these movies just a star wars and a batman movie just without the marvel rights? And George Lucas rights?
Correct me if I am wrong but here I go
Push has the same styled crap as the force and has the same basic story line from what i see just this time the Jedi are hated and trying to be recruited for evil deeds of some sort.
The Watchmen, from what I have seen, their heroes look very familiar to those in the other actual hero movies, batman wolverine, ect
What you guys think?
Just wow. Seriously before you post you might want to check the wiki site on certain things. Watchmen for example.
Watchmen is the product of DC buying out Charlton Comics. Originally the concept was to give a send off to some of the Charlton characters that they couldn't use. Over time this idea morphed into strong references to current characters and it was taken in a darker direction. Watchmen is considered the firstly really "mature" superhero comic.
The point of the comic is very much to take some classic superhero archtypes and filter them through the real world. It asks if by their nature a 'superhero' is a right wing and negative thing.
Night Owl II - is actually more of a play on Blue Beetle (Charlton) than Batman, Night Owl I is obivously 60s Batman. He is the millionaire playboy archtype.
Rorscharch - is I think (if I remember correctly) half Mr A and Question (Charlton). The conspiracy theorists with fedora. This is more of a throw back to the pulp detective heroes who were overly violent and aggressive.
Dr Manhattan - Superman's political impact and Captain Atom (Charlton) themes.
The Comedian - Not actually sure who the Charlton equivalent is but certainly an influential character. Hell he seems to have more in common with the Joker than any hero (seeing everything as a joke). An obvious comment on right-wing pro-American characters like old style Captain America but brutally subverted.

Also Batman and Watchmen are both own by DC, not Marvel.
ARGH! I hope I haven't just been trolled.
EDIT: Watchmen is 1986-87 and slightly pre-dates The Dark Knight Returns wherein Batman gets his major re-shift back to darkness.
