Full Title Trial sounds cool, although I would assume that just applies to downloadable titles. I don't see them allowing 25+ GB of data to be downloaded for a BD title, not to mention for some users that's bigger than their standard HDD..
its really not using cloud computing. using cloud computing the game itself would be stored on sonys external servers and when you go to play it that data would be transferred to your ps3, ergo you dont have to download 25gb worth of data AND youd be able to play it immediately (however most ps3 games are far below 25gb, most hover around the 10gb mark). however the tradeoff is that for this to work well you would have to have a very fast internet connection.

in any case, i think charging for cross-game voice chat is a horrible idea. some of the other things on the list are pretty good, but for sony to claim free online multiplayer and not hand out the MOST REQUESTED feature update for psn for free is just stupid.

yeah, but all of the features listed above won't be avaliable.

OT: yeah baby! unlimited free PSone classics for (most likely) 60 bucks a year? that is DEFINATELY worth it baby!.. yeah, I'll just download a metric fuck-ton of RPGs and that'll last me forever *is giddy*

my one wish for it to be perfect is to allow music to be played while playing ANY GAME, then the 'music' section of my XMB won't be completely useless.

they have it(x-game voice chat) but its for gold members only.
so basically, microsoft is charging for it, but it's included in the $5 a month that you ALREADY pay, so you don't notice it?

sounds to me like the PS3 and 360 are on equal grounds now... Sounds like fun!!

the only thing on the list i dislike from the perspective of someone whom doesn't plan to buy it is this 'exclusive ingame content'
if that weren't on the list, i'd say pretty damn awesome.

Yeah, so it's still free and you just get perks and extras if you pay? Not a terrible idea.

Live should have had something like this from the start of the 360, you get basic stuff like the ability to..I dunno...play online then for the fee you get more sht and swag.....at least PSN gets it and is not just forcing there to be a fee like MS is doing....

Really, as long as they are not taking away features from the free users, what's the big deal? It seems like a win-win-- depending how much this service costs.

The free PS1 games sounds awesome BTW.

Assuming this is true, most of these just seem like a "make it look like they're getting more when we're really just selling them what they already had" type thing. Pretty much wherever they offer "exclusive content," "early," or "members only" stuff it's just stuff that they choose to delay or not release to the normal players, which in the hypothetical that this whole "fee" didn't exist would be available to the public anyway without a second thought.

Are we thinking this may have something to do with the un-profitability (?) of the PS3?

I would like to know that if the PS3 more profitable, would these be given to users free of charge, and the only reason they aren't giving it away in a free update is because they are scrounging for monies?

I honestly don't know how big of a deal this is, as an Xbox person who has very little to do with the PS3 entirely, so I couldn't say how much this would bring up their margins.

I'm just putting 2 and 2 together here

no longer will i have to hear the words "but the ps3 has free online so its better" from the sniveling moron who is trying to justify the huge wad of cash he just blew!

oh well I kinda knew this was coming to be honest... how long was did you think the free online would last before they showed you a shiney nugget with a price tag on it?

at least microsoft were honest about it from the start

Nevertheless, out PS3's can play online for free and your 360's can't. This news does not change that. In fact, almost all of these are new features. So I will still get what I am getting right now for free.

EDIT: To clear up any confusion about the "Member-Only ingame content" feature, here is what they explain it as:

Member Only In-game Content
Get exclusive member-only in-game content for your PS3 or PSP such as new game play options, unlocked in-game weapons or player slots, exclusive levels, costumes/skins, and PlayStation Home spaces.

Make of that what you will.

The free online was kind of unstable from the start. Honestly, I use my 360 for online gaming (unless it is going through a emotional breakdown, like it actually is right now lol) since you pay for what is in many ways a better service.

My PS3 is more or less for exclusives (the single player ones usually) and of course Bluray discs. And it serves this purpose perfectly well.

The premium online stuff seems alright, and really might be worth paying, depending on what Sony sets as the cost.

I think that Netflix still being available for free on the disc is a nice touch. Microsoft seriously screwed everyone who uses the service when they started charging just to stream to the console.

Those are more or less all of the thoughts which went through my head as a result of this.

Customer Service Priority Access

Member Only In-game Content

Haha screw that. I'm not so sure I want a Ps3 anymore. Doesn't seem worth it to pay 300$ for the console and then not get Customer Service Priority Access. People are gonna be really pissed off if this happens.

Member Only In-game Content is a fucking joke.

Yep.

Also "Free access to PSOne classics"? Whatever could that mean....

If it's only the 5 dollars or whatever that XBL costs, then I would DEFINITELY pay that for all those extras. Those seem really sweet. As the person above me pointed out, "free access to PSone classics" is just too good to pass up.

Why do you care? As long as you enjoy playing your games it doesn't matter. Seriously, "Rofled" your "copter"? Save it for the Gamefaqs forums.

The free psx games and betas sounds good. I think the intergame chat could really fail though. If I've payed the premium and my friend hasn't can we still do intergame chat? Probably not. The early access to content sounds like a scam. You'll get it no earlier, just none payers will have to wait longer. How much longer, days? Weeks? Months?

The exclusive content would worry me if I didn't plan on paying. It's a little too vague for my liking although in reality it will probably start small. Priority support could also be a worry. The Twitter stuff doesn't interest me at all. I've not even looked at it on XBL.

Overall, if I owned a PS3 it would interest me.
