I hate to be the first to say that yes, I do think it matters. I think it shows at the very least how opinionated they are, or how many forum games they post on.

I tend to agree with this. I've been registered for almost two years, have been reading/viewing the content for longer and I regularly read through the forums for news/information. Although I have opinions on quite a lot of the subjects, most of the time I can see it will either start an argument or is a waste of my and everyone else?s time, so I don't post. Although I do have my fair share of useless posts when the mood takes me.

I only got the commented in 100 topics badge today!

I don't judge people by post count. I very rarely look at it.
If you take a look at mine, it's not impressive, but I don't feel the need to post everyone of my thoughts, or I think people will judge my posts too harshly, or think I'm really stupid.

A large part of my post count comes from a brief stint in the Forum Games section, oh shes an addictive beast she is. But no I actually have less respect for people with insanely large post counts as to me it shows they must post mainly unsubstantial posts. Well except for NeonBob, that dude just wins me over, it may be his shave the whales thing.

I judge people by their comments. It doesn't matter to me if someone has been a member for a week or since the beginning, if they're trolling or flaming they should be called on it, and if they have an interesting point it should be discussed.

Besides, as far as I can tell a lot of the big posters on this site are young-mid teenagers, which means I take everything with a pinch of salt.

Very little, sometimes I'll use it as a factor on how much know how experience they could have at the escapist if they start saying things that aren't usual here, but honestly, no not much.

I tend to be a tad hesitant around people that have less than 100 posts, But other than that, It doesn't really matter.

Neon, I'd be willing to bet my left ass cheek that you have the highest post count, not just on The Escapist, but on any Themis Media site, seeing as the only other people to get over 10000 posts (to my knowledge) are Dingo, Portal, Max, Sanity and [user]MoonPenguin[/user] (he was a Warcry regular), and all of them have less posts than you.

As for you being a common name here, I think Forum Games are more of a small community than a public thing, only the really dedicated users visit them often and start to get to know each other well there, but other users don't seem to integrate or try to integrate much into them, or at least that was what I though when I was in them. I remember not being sure about it when I first started posting in Forum Game: The Confession Game, especially in comparison to all the regulars in there who had (most of) already Gone Gonzo by that point, and I was just a new face back then. But after a few posts I realised I was becoming accepted and eventually ended up getting stuff right, so it's nice when that starts to happen. So you being a regular in there for so long may be why you're not such an oft-spoken name, due to how many people visit them in comparison to Off-Topic.

Well, that and Max's history for sarcasm and comedy, which also led to his fame and glory.

On topic, I don't really view post count, joined date or anything else as relevant when judging a user. I judge people by their posts and those alone, as those will give me a lot more information about them than some numerical value which could easily be misinterpreted when using it to judge the quality of a poster.

Anyway, It doesn't really matter. The only time that I find it weird is when people are here for less than a week and have 1000 posts. I can just see them spazzing all over the keyboard

I don't understand why that's the average view of them.
Forum games are almost their own community; they almost have an exclusive feel to them.
They're also where I got my first friends on this site. (We bonded, calling each other trolls, you know.)
They're probably the only reason I have as many posts as I do (besides group chats), because they pulled me away from the off-topic section so much. Otherwise I'd spend just as much of my nights of insomnia here.
I just plum have too much time late at night.

Also, the reason no one notices Neonbob as much is the fact that you're our resident psychopath. Bob's just the lovable uncle.

i used to think it was weird when i saw people who joined in the same month as me with a hundred more posts than me. But i looked at someones profile the other day and there was a member for 2 weeks and they had 500 posts. There is are only one two words for that and its they are SPAM Forum Games.

Yes, I spend way too much time in the Forum Games (but they're fun!). But I also like to point out that when I comment on threads not in the forum games, I take the time to properly put all of my opinions in, and I try to make sure my grammar's all correct.
I mean, my first post ever was a gigantic wall of text on my thoughts about why we shouldn't try to re-write the English language. My post last night about common misconceptions about our country was also another wall of text. (What? People like to misjudge Canada a lot!)

I've been here for a long time now, and i've never seen a single "first" post. Anywhere. If any of you have i'd like to know.

You can generally find about seven of those on any Zero Punctuation video.
Other than that, there really aren't that many of them.
You haven't been missing much, really.

...Also, someone has stated here (I can't seem to find their post... I'll see if I can find it later and edit it in...) that they look at the people with big posts to see if their average post is worthless crap, and if it is, they ignore them.

Myself, I check what their average post content is. If it's mainly tripe or replying to peoples brainwashed ramblings, it hardly matters. I just ignore the posts.

I find that very judgmental.
See, the forum games posts are pretty much worthless, meaningless fun, and they take up the majority of my posts. But, the posts I make that aren't in the forum games tend to be well thought-out (if I may say so myself). This is why I feel the need to treat every post on a post-by-post basis, unless I have seen the poster around a few too many times in not-forum games threads making a few too many stupid comments.

Well I joined in the summer and I have a little over on thousand now, but I don't really care about it. The only time I thought about my post count was when I had 666 posts, I took a screen shot just for fun.
