Yes.

These guys V The Twilight vampires, take your bets now...
Well, seeing as Meyer made them fucking invincible, it's actually a tough call.

I desperately want these slobbering monstrosities to win, though.

OT - Those aren't vampires! See how they look nothing like humans? See how it shows a scene of a "pack" of them tearing a human apart? See that bit where they run around naked without eyes? If Twilight Vampires aren't vampires, this lot certainly aren't!

It still looks fun, but they couldn't have called them "demons", or "monsters", or pretty much anything else?
I agree completely. I'm all for bringing vampires back to being evil, murderous monsters, but if we're taking issue with how Twilight disregards the most basic of their characteristics (death by sunlight, drink blood etc.) then this doesn't do any better. It just goes in the other direction.

Vampires, to me, look and act like people (although they can be warped looking people, as per Nosferatu and the old guy from Blade 2), are killed by sunlight and drink blood. That's the trinity that defines them in my opinion.

Whatever happened to originality? Why do people keep using cliches like vampires or werewolves?
Normally, I'd agree, but I personally think vampires are a cool idea in and of themselves, and I'd really hate the last big thing with them to be... that other movie...

And to be fair, the idea of a Priest fighting them actually makes sense. Vampires are supposed to be unholy abominations so it makes more sense for a priest to fight them than, say, a cheerleader... Though I'm still pretty sure this will end up being crap.

Dude, that looks badass. Too bad I can already sense a bunch of idiots saying "I'm not going to see it because it's called Priest."

I think it's interesting. I mean, the one with Sam Neil ...uh, Daybreakers got overshadowed by one of those stupid Twilight movies. That was a really good one too as it wasn't so much a common one of large human society fighting back-end secrete vampire club, but instead large group of vampires hunting down the last of the humans who eventually fight back.

Only problem I have is that right now, down to about everything from that movie: It looks like a Judge Dred knockoff!

-Giant futuristic clustered city surrounded by walls which beyond is a dessert wasteland: Check.

-Society controlling console of all-knowing group. (Judges there, Priests here): Check.

-Futuristic motorcycles: Check.

-One protagonist hero: Check.

-Some backhand government-like conspiracy: Probably....

Sure there are some major differences, but for anyone who's seen Judge Dred (ya, that makes me old), then you can see the clear similarities that make it kind of a slight turn off.

It looks like Vampire Hunter D's setting more than Priest's. From my understanding Priest was set in the Old West with losts of flash backs to the Crusades and flash forwards to a little bit past present day.

Just suck it up and MAKE Vampire Hunter D if you want to do post apocalyptic/western/gothic Vampire hunter. Though he's probably too damn pretty for western audiences to take seriously.

But yea, I can see why it's nothing like the Priest manhwa (not to be confused with Priest the DC/Vertigo comic). I love the Priest manhwa but it probably wouldn't do well as a film, with all the making deals with fallen angels to destroy more fallen angels to do something.

Why would that be? Sounds badass on its own; a subtitle would just kill it.

A post-apocalyptic desert-driving macho-man movie crossed with a western crossed with "Blade" with the vampires from "I Am Legend" sprinkled in?

Love this picture.

I really don't know what to think about this movie. It looks bad, but I don't have a good track record at predicting movies. I thought Book of Eli was going to be good. From what I heard, I was wrong about that.

Wait... -what- the hell have they done!? o_O Really? Where were the zombies? Eldritch demonic forces? Arch imposing villains? Vampires fine, but a bit dull. I seriously hope Min-Woo Hyung has little involvement in this butchery. I know, with the XCOM fuzz, it didn't make me angry, because it could conceivably be a pretty good game despite having little relation to it's predecessors.

But this mostly same situation. Remove the title of the movie and you'd have no idea the manhwa and film were even related at all. Damn it. I mean really, Ivan Issacs is something of less cerebral Elric of Melniboné. Pale, white haired, tall and brooding, and in Issac's case often an insanity driven homicidal maniac, not this bald git we've been given.

And while the manwha certainly had time shifts, these were between the old west, the crusades era and the modern day. There was no post-apocalptica as such.

Geh...and I was actually excited when this was rumoured way back when, I guess some things should just stay rumours. Still...if it's good it's good. I don't find that likely, but it's not impossible.

If this is the same manga I'm thinking of the "real" manga was about this half possessed guy fighting a group of 13 fallen angles. Also based in the old west/modern day in a kinda duel but connected story. Admittedly I only read the first 3-4 volumes, but I doubt it changed that much. No vampires involved.

I know a few idiots who blow off movies because of their titles.

As a big fan of the comic, this movie is nothing but a disappointment all around. I was hoping it was canceled and dropped long ago. But since it's so different, it's not even connected to the comic in my eyes and there is no reason the two should be lumped together.

But really why would you change from Fallen angels with armies of undead mutant monsters and a group of extremist Catholics as the villains with silly looking CG vampires?

The only way I'm watching this is with Rifftrax.

EDIT: also a bit of a pet peeve of mine. There is never a "modern day" setting in the comic. At one point it jumps 300 years after what can be assume to be the 1870's or 1880's. So its more like 2270's then modern day for that small section of the story. But yeah, that doesn't matter to this topic.

ahh...i don't really know about the way the vampires look...they don't look like humans...maybe this is the writer or directors way of trying to get away from twilight vampires but...a vampire is suppose to be a human type thing...that thing didnt even have eyes! more like an animal then a vampire...i think they need a mix of killer and charm... since the begining they had charm... not fruity charm thats in twilight... but charm... nah i dont like the look of the vamps... i DO like how its leading back into the religious kinda deal where they are weakened by crosses and stuff thats cool...

So, why's no one mentioned the tenuous video game link here?

The esthetics of the comic were based on Blood (by Monolith). That game I keep bringing up whenever anybody talks about forgotten gems. You know, that game from Duke Nukem's generation that's better than Duke Nukem. That one.

In one of the issues they have an interview with the creator and he flat out tells us that he's based his main character on that (Caleb to be precise). He probably wouldn't have had the idea if it weren't for a game.

Why? You can watch it in 2D if you'd like.
The rest of us can enjoy it properly, but the Luddites always get a choice.
That's part of it. The fact that some people consider it necessary, when it's all just a fucking gimmick.
