PS4 Will Not Block Used Games or Require an Online Connection

In which Sony wins E3.

PlayStation chief, Jack Tretton, has confirmed the PS4 will not impose any new restrictions on used games, nor will it require any kind of online connection for single player, disk-based games.

He also confirmed the system will cost $399, undercutting the XBox One by $100.

Your move, Microsoft.

News Tomorrow from Microsoft:

We're making it offline capable and can use used games!

It'd take far more for me to move back to them.

Also why do I have the music from "Man of Steel" trailer keep playing in my head after seeing the Destiny trailer?

And in related news, the head of Microsoft's Xbox division just committed ritualistic suicide.

Oh wait, that happened at the Xbone's release event.

SEE I TOLD YOU!!!! Yes I bloody called it :p

Now to all those that said the PS4 would do the same crap as the XBone and cost $600, what have you got to say for yourselves?

*raises flame shield*

EDIT: Just called my EB games (Australia) and was told they expect it at $499 here in Oz (XBone is $599), which makes it very competative (since buying it overseas and shipping it here would cost around that). Not 100% confirmed but promising. I was told to keep an eye on the EB website as there will likely be an announcement soon.

It could only be improved if Trenton announced all this at the end, dropped a mic, and just swaggered off-stage like a boss.

Ouch.

That's going to be a blow to Microsoft. One huge, terrible, painful blow. Doesn't change the fact that I don't want any of the exclusives and won't be buying it, but, still. Ouch. Super ouch.

I do believe this is the biggest burn I've seen online ever. All this was short on was a Last guardian trailer for the closing and people would have literally lost their minds.

Welp Sony did what microsoft couldn't, made me interested in a next gen console. The games were great, I was satisfied by the price, and the only downside is that PS+ is required for online play. However, it is much better value than xbox live because of the free games they release every week.

But I rarely play console games online so thats not really a downside for me.

Oh boy this is good. After months, no wait, YEARS of speculation the PS4 is the closest to staying true to a GAMING console. Sony you have the pretty much made all the right moves. Enjoy having a day one customer.

One bit of bad news though. It appears that online play may no longer be free on the PS4. Other than that. yeah, I'm putting in my pre-order tmorrow morning.

Grey you do realize that kiss was done unwillingly? It's basically like if I went in the street of a major city, grabbed a random attractive woman, and kissed her. Kinda sick, perhaps you could use a better picture.

OT: Well the people at Sony are gonna get really wealthy really quick. Sorry Microsoft but it seems I'm switching teams this generation.

Yup, I think it's fair to say that Sony has this thing in the bag. They have already proven themselves to be all about consumer trust, and that's only making the deal worse for Microsoft.

I can't wait to see how they plan to pull themselves out of this incredibly deep grave.

Aaaaand, Microsoft got dumpstered.

Embedded that for you :)

OT: That was a glorious press conference. It was like a breath of fresh air after the stink left by Microsoft earlier today.
