N64. Had better games in my preffered genres.

Plus Lylat Wars is one of the greatest videogames of all time. <3
Is Lylat Wars the Euro version of Starfox 64?

N64 - Goldeneye

[/thread]

I had both (in fact, have all games console released in the UK since the NES, and a few prior to that).

Personally I loved my N64 much more than my PS1, Resident Evil was the only real game I liked on the platform whereas there's many N64 games that were great - better put together, storylines, plot and the most important: gameplay.

Just my 2c's )

Killer Instinct. Too bad it never got the port treatment it deserved. The arcade version was my favorite fighting game.

N64 was a better SYSTEM, but the Playstation had a longer active life and a far bigger selection of games; it's not as if they were all gold, but neither was everything on the N64.

If I had to choose one, it'd probably be the Playstation.

You know what this thread could really use? A poll. Oh well.

I liked the N64. The PS1 had more games but they weren't as consistently good as the N64's. Think about what games usually top most people's "Best games of all time" lists. LoZ:OoT,Mario 64, Goldeneye, they're all on the Nintendo 64, so it wins hands down.

Weren't the N64 and the PSX supposed to be the same system?

Maybe that one would have been the best.

Yes... well, probably. I mean, I think so...
_____________

I rented both systems extensively before getting the N64 for Christmas and I always remembered the N64 titles more than PS ones - there just didn't seem to be many big-name classics on the PS1 that I noticed - maybe Crash Bandicoot (sp?) (oh, and there was Metal Gear - but I didn't know about that till MUCH later). Legends like Zelda, Banjo Kazooie, Mario, Goldeneye - these are all Nintendo exclusives, and I loved F-Zero X to bits (music nostalgia moment :'). Too bad I never did get a copy of Lylat Wars - that genre kinda died out of mainstream gaming over the years :/

I'd also argue that the N64 had better graphics (because they were ;)

The point was really just PSOne vs. N64. I didn't even intend to include the Saturn and Dreamcast (both sadly fated) due to my lack of knowledge about them. One of my best friends said that the games released at the end of the Saturn cycle were badass, and I've played some games on Dreamcast that blew me away.

Yes, they were. One of the worst decisions Nintendo ever made.

i can list more ps1 games that were way better than those you just listed. shall i start?

resident evil series (3 games)
silent hill
tomb raider series (5 games)
tony hawk pro skater (only played the first 2)
die hard trilogy
twisted metal
metal gear solid
castlevania

sorry but no matter what people say, there's no chance that the n64 was the better system. you may prefer it more but its not a fact.

I loved F-Zero X to bits
My friends and I had a standing rule while playing Goldeneye that if one of us ran headlong into a heroic death (such as pointing the rocket launcher at the floor to murder-suicide an approaching opponent), he was supposed to reference an old Mystery Science Theater episode and yell out "I regret nothing!"

A few years later, F-Zero X comes along. We decided that flying off the track to our death should be accompanied by "Hey you guys!" If you can't reference that, then you don't deserve a cookie.

One of these friends is now married to a woman who says that her first memory of me was of me screaming "Get the fucking monkey" during some Turok 2 multiplayer.
